Well think about it this way - as a Christian I know I am supposed to fight sin, to seek righteousness and purity, but I find myself so fallible to sin and because of that I really think I am undeserving of being called a Christian because I am far from being an example. While most Christians will say that WE are not the example, but Christ is, WE are still Christ's representatives on earth. Now I hardly find myself able to represent someone such as Christ, but I am who I am, and the only way I will change is if he transforms me. You just have to keep seeking transformation, and although you will never be totally rid of sin, the Holy Spirit is stronger and the closer you get to the Holy Spirit the less pleasurable sin will become.

There are two spirits - a sinful spirit and a Holy Spirit. We naturally have the first; we must seek the second. We may get the second, but the first still has a grasp on us. But its like a balancing scale - the more we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit the less presence the sinful nature will have over us. On this earth we decide which spirit we want to be indwelt with, and in the afterlife we are totally indwelt with that spirit with no presence of the one we reject. Sorry if this seems complicated, writers tend to make simple things sound complex.

The sin you commit is not too big that God cannot forgive it. The sin you commit is not so frequent that God cannot forgive it.

"You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.. For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

Becoming a Christian does not mean you will never sin. It just means you will be more conscious of it and desire not to because you want to live a life pleasing to the Father. He is not at all surprised when you sin. When you focus on God instead of your sin nature, you will be less likely to enter into sin. Spend time in His Word. Spend time talking to Him. When you're an ew Christian, you're always so aware of what you're doing wrong. God's not waiting somewhere to smack you around when you sin. He loves you. We all have sinned and continue to sin. GEt back up again. Draw close to Him in all things and He will see you through. Be encouraged! It's a wonderful journey this walk of faith.

God forgives you the nano-second you ask for it!

Listen, don't worry about sin. Try not to do it...but don't pile guilt on yourself as this is precisely what Jesus came to free you from so you could enjoy a constantly fresh and new relationship with him.

I was thinking the other day that if I aim for perfection but that makes me always feel guilty...then i'd rather jsut admit I'm imperfect and accept Jesus love.

Also, say the sin is about masturbation - I don't think that's wrong. What about porn - it is not good, but try to get off it...even if you need to do so slowly like with drugs. Don't worry and stress out though. Jeus loves you. Once you feel truly free within that love then you can start doing things out of love - even hard things, like giving up certain sins.

God's promise to us is :

If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say we have not sinned we make him a liar and his word is not in us. 1 John1/9-10

Clearly God knows all or sins, even the many we don't know about, and has died, paid the price, for all of them that we have committed or will commit.

When we become a Christian sin also becomes a problem to us and Romans 6, quoted above by Home_Budd, is the best chapter to read and study and put into practice in our fight against sin.

Well quoted Home_Budd.

Let's be clear. You are no longer a sinner. You are a righteous child of God. You are in fact the apple of his eye. This is your legal standing. It is the posistion of the new man.

The old man however is a different story and is a sinner and will always be a sinner and will always sin. However the old you was crucified.

If you believe Jesus died in your place for your sins accept that there are no sins (new or old) that he had overlooked.

Or simply yes you are forgiven.

Yes. Christians still sin - that is a fact. You don't have to be a new Christian to sin. We are sinners - that is what we do - we have a sin nature. Are we supposed to strive not to sin? Yes. That is the right thing to do. God forgives us - He sees our heart and minds and knows if we are sincere. We must on a daily basis turn to Him and ask for His forgiveness . We even sin and don't know it - so we have to ask daily for His forgiveness.

If a person commits grave sin, does not repent and seek God’s fatherly mercy, but continues to pursue sin, what then? Exodus 34:6, 7 gives us a description of Jehovah. After stressing his mercy, his slowness to anger and willingness to pardon error, it adds: “But by no means will he give exemption from punishment.” (Compare Numbers 25:1-5; Ezekiel 33:12, 13.) Hence, we must not presume upon his mercy or take it for granted.

Yes. A new Christian might be shaky in the knees and wobly in the walk and fall inadvertently from time to time... but if he is a genuine SHEEP, he will not like STAYING in the mud or wallowing in the pig stye - he'll keep wanting to get out and stay out. God the Holy Spirit will give you understanding of these things.

The important thing is, after you fall, repent then pick yourself up and keep following the shepherd. You'll get stronger and stronger.

Yes God forgives but are you praying God take that sin away from you. If you are not truly ready to give up that sin I dont believe God will deal with that sin. The more sin you keep in your life the more easy it is for satan to tempt you, cause your flesh is weak.

We all keep sinning. New child of God, that is why you need the Savior. Keep your eyes and heart focused on Jesus, keep doing what you know to be right. If you fall, run to Jesus, not away from Him. Some sins are so into our souls that it takes time to overcome them. We like some sins. Ask the Lord to help you get through this time, that in your heart you want to be clean and pure.Jesus promises to be your Shepherd, He will lead you in the path of righteousness. Trust in Him and He will see you through.
