Depends on what you consider safe. There are worse places than Bushwick but parts of Bushwick are still pretty dangerous. It's become more gentrified in the past few years so many people believe it's on it's way 'up' but it's still right next to a few very bad areas that aren't getting much better anytime soon. Like a lot of Brooklyn neighborhoods, you need to take it block by block and it depends exactly where the building is. Basically, it's still considered closer to the bottom of the list if you were to rate all the neighborhoods on how safe they were.

The key 2 living anywhere in Brooklyn is 2 mind your business. If you're a person that is in everybodys' biz,start trouble, associate with the wrong crowd your looking 4 problems. There are many neighborhoods that get a bad rap for the simple fact that if blacks and latinos live there it must be dangerous. Not true. I have lived in Bushwick years ago and every1 on my block or that I knew worked. Just because a person may have some financial difficulties and turn 2 welfare 4 assistance doesn't make them a bad person. Nor would they make the neighborhood dangerous.

Its getting safer. As Williamsburg gets more and more expensive, Bushwick is the next alternative on the L line. Some parts are very safe but it all depends on what you look like and what time of day it is.

I lived in the next neighborhood over for two months...after that I had to go. Bushwick isn't much better. But honestly if you mind your business & not act scared you should be Ok.

Overall Brooklyn is not the safest place to live. So I'd say no.
