All you need to do is buy what is called Christma Tree Nutrient. Most Christmas tree farms sell it and then some upscale nurseries sell it also. It typically cost $1.50 - $2.50 a package. Then just follow th instructions. It is like a Tablespoon to a quart of water.

First, before you put it in the water, cut off two or three inches off the bottom of the trunk...then when you add water, add a couple of tablespoons of sugar and a broken up asparin...also, it helps if you keep the room cooler.
