I'm talking about a wall outlet where the outlet already has a ground on it. Not sure what they are called as I'm not an electrician or inclined. It's the outlet near water that has a reset switch. I'm assuming its a surge protector of sorts.

Anyways seeing as it has auto shut off if it has water on it, is it safe to keep another extension cord plugged into this outlet on the counter that is not a surge protector, assuming there is a chance of said cord getting wet?

You're talking about a ground-fault outlet, which is normally found in kitchens or bathrooms. You can plug just about any appliance (or extension cord) into such an outlet without worrying -- they are the safest electrical outlets that you can use. The only thing you should be careful about is overloading that circuit. Usually, outlets in kitchens or bathrooms have a current rating of 15 amps, which would be fine for most appliances as long as you're not using a bunch of them at the same time. So go ahead and plug that extension cord in -- just be sure not to hook too many things up to that extension cord.

The outlet you're referring to is called a GFI (Ground Fault Interrupt) outlet. They are to protect you from getting a shock or electrocuted where water and electricity can come together. It's like a circuit breaker. Extension cords work just as well with these outlets as with any other.

That will work but a better idea would be to get a surge suppressor and plug them all into that.
