Hi Ram - try this & you will not go wrong
Starter - saute some leeks & bacon until the leeks are soft & the bacon done to your liking (set aside). Preheat your oven to Gas Mark 5. Get 2 Ramekins & pour a small amount of single cream into them. Now use you leeks & bacon to about 3/4 fill the ramekins, sprinkle some grated cheese & then top with enough single cream to cover the cheese - place in oven for 15 mins & serve either as they are or will some garlic bread.
Main Course - Prepare your chicken by marinading it in a mixture of yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice & 3 - 4 large spoons of curry powder. It will be best to marinade for 6 - 24 hours.
Peel, dice & par-boil some potatoes for 15 mins - when you drain them bash them around so the outerlayer gets a bit scabby ( this will create a crunchy feel ) before you pop them in the overn toss then in a pan that has melting butter with either garlic salt or 2 cloves of crushed garlic. Now whack them in the oven Gas Mark 5 for 40 - 50 mins. Additional veg is optionable. Best to have them with cauliflower cheese.

If you really are that bad a cook then why not treat her to a night out instead. Nothing like good food in a nice restaurant to cheer someone up if they are feeling low.
If you are short of cash then have a look at the Delia Smith Websites and print off a recipe. You can't go wrong with Delia.. nice and easy to follow with no fancy ingredients !! Whatever you choose i am sure it will put a smile on her face.xx

an easy delicious and good looking main would be *lemon chicken salad* for 2 people
takes about 10-15 mins
1 bag of fresh green salad of your choice
1-2 organic chicken breast
1 pk streaky bacon
1 clove (or sprinkle of dried) garlic
1-2 tblspn oil
1-2 tblspn dried tarragon
1 jif lemon
simply cut the bacon into 2" strips and fry till crispy (set aside in a bowl
slice the chicken breast and fry in the same pan , when cooked through add the bacon back in and add a good tablespoon of tarragon and half the lemon juice, cook for a few mins. (you can have a little taster here and decide if you would like more lemon or tarragon...we like lots-its a personal choice) otherwise thats it!
place your lettuce onto a plate (you can add an oil dressing if you like) then place the lemon chicken mix on top.
serve with garlic or cheese bread
scrummy and simple :-)
for pudding;
profiteroles or a nice ready made trifle maybe?

Chicken Ceasar Salad you can buy ready made bags of the salad just add nicely chopped stirfried chicken cooked in a little virgin olive oil serve with warmed crusty bread and a choc desert for after. The most important thing is not the food it would be you listening to whats wrong and giving her lots of hugs and letting her snuggle up to you on the sofa after dinner and you giving her support and encouragement and something to look forward to, good luck! By the way, she is lucky to have such a considerate man!

Vodka Cream Sauce with Pasta
1 T. butter
1 T. olive oil
1 small onion
1 28 oz. can plum tomatoes, drained, seeded and chopped
1 c. whipping cream
1/4 c. vodka
1/4 tsp. dried crushed red pepper
Salt and pepper
1 lb. penne pasta
2 T. fresh basil, finely chopped
1/4 c. freshly grated parmesan cheese
Melt butter with oil in heavy sauté pan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until tender, about 8 minutes. Add tomatoes and cook until juice has almost evaporated. Stir frequently, about 25 minutes. Add cream, vodka, and red pepper. Bring to a boil and allow to thicken, about 2 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Add pasta and toss to cover. Add basil and 1 T. parmesan cheese. Divide among plates. Sprinkle with additional parmesan. Sauce can be made ahead and refrigerated. Reheat when pasta is cooked just prior to serving. Sprinkle with additional parmesan.

Starters: Prawn Cocktail, Soup or Garlic Mushrooms
Main:Spagehetti Bolognaise (if you feel adventerous, when i first made it i welded it to the pan, but still saved enough and it tasted ok), Steak n Chips or a stir fry.

try a simple fruit salad for starters (you can buy it in a tin if you can't be bothered preparing a fresh one), then a stir fry is simple and tastey for a main course, buy a stir fry book, cheap one, they're full of ideas, mostly only taking 10 mins to prepare and 10 mins to cook! go for it. hope your girlfriend is happy with your cooking skills.
always go for chocolate for desert, mousse/cake/ice cream etc
have fun :-)
