Some do it because its super cheap (resturaunts for example) but most either because they don't know any better or they just prefer the un-seasoned taste of the meat. Many times you can get away with just salt and pepper when bbq'in or grilling due to the extra flavor from the smoke (not charcoal lol). The salt and pepper scheme is also good for meats that will be served with sauces since sometimes the flavor can be oversaturated with sauce AND spices AND smoke. It also depends on the meat of course. Its all up to your tastes.

because they don't know better. My in-laws eat bland food (or what I like to call blah food)- just salt and pepper, and not too much pepper.
Steak is ok with just salt and pepper, but everything else tastes way better when it's a bit jazzed up.

lol there can be so many reason
1, they can't think of any other seasoning
2. they don't have any other seasoning around
3. they can't afford other seasoning
4. when i use only salt and pepper, it cause i want to taste the meat only and nothing fancy around it. just plain. plan and simple. u know like how sometimes u want to eat french fries plain, no ketchup, or chutney or mayo.

Because thats what they like, or what they know. I have no idea what salt and pepper has to do with bland food ?????? It was bland before you add it, it is up to the cook to put flavour into food. And I have never tasted bland meat yet, it has always tasted...meaty! So basically like I said some people use it because they like it, just like some people eat raw fish...coz they like it.

Because they do not understand that it takes more than salt and pepper to enjoy a meal that doesn't taste bland, either that or they enjoy bland food.
