If you're talking about the souls of the dead stomping around haunting people, no.

If you're talking about impressions made upon the fabric of the world by traumatic events, then yes, I think that's possible.

My wife and I were taking a ghost tour of Edinburgh, Scotland a couple years ago, in a portion of the city that had been previously been walled up to keep plague victims separate from the healthy folks. That was most certainly a traumatic event - all those plague victims dying behind a wall that separated them from the treatment they needed.

Obviously, we took lots of pictures as we were on the tour, and it was a clear night. But one of the pictures we took had a ghostly mist crossing it, even though there was no fog that night. Coincidence? Bad camera? Who knows.... let's just say it certainly put some doubt into our heads about the existence of ghosts.

I am going to assume that what you mean by "ghost" is the spirit of someone who has "passed over".

Yes, I believe some people do not pass over into the next world right away, because of left over issues, and they sometimes can be felt by others who are sensitive to this kind of energy. Happens all the time. Just some people are not sensitive to this, or they are so closed minded they refuse to see or admit they've seen "ghosts".

Ghost means spirit.
There are evil or demonic spirits roaming all over the world, as well as there are angelic spirits.
If you want to know more about ghost or spirits, try reading the bible.
The bible speaks of fallen angels, also called demonic or evil spirits, who were dumped by God here on earth because their leader, Satan, ambitioned to be like God.
These demonic ghost are the same spirits responsible for things that we call elemental beings, ghosts, evil ghost or spirits and human spirits roaming around to do harm to others or vengeance.
These evil ghost are responsible for evil that men do. They are the ones making influence to man to do evil.
This may sound ridiculous but this is what is being taught in the bible.
There are other theory about ghost depending on the ideology, culture, intellectual orientations or religious orientation. But I suggest that you try reading the bible first.

Yes, just because you cannot see a ghost doesn't mean it's not there. We cannot physically see the wind outside but we know it's there because the trees will move. The same logic can be applied to ghosts.

No, yet that would not propose they don't exist. i have had extraordinary issues ensue round my living house that i won't be able to clarify, yet that would not unavoidably propose they were led to by using ghosts. The otherday I awakened at 2am (precise at 2:00am) in a chilly sweat when I heard a noisy advance and that i'd have sworn I referred to like a 7ft black determine walk out of my room (regarded like the bleak reaper and not using a scythe) and down the corridor and the flooring were squeeking anytime it walked (we've wooden flooring lower than the carpet). i imagine it became my innovations taking section in tricks on me....

yep... from the past which are situations you left unresolved or buried alive then they come back and bite you in the ****... in short, haunting you.
then of course spirits... that may be good or evil, cant harm you on contact but can manipulate you to do so to yourself. etc.
