Well first and foremost its hell to be in this situation. I know I've been there! Its easy to rationally analyse it now, but your judgement is clouded when you're in the situation.
It really all depends on how strongly you love the object of your affections, the realistic chances you have of actually consumating those feelings, and how long you're prepared to wait.
Bareing in mind, you are (in most cases) wasting your time waiting.
Having said that my friend waited for two years and now is planning his engagement to the girl he waited for. Having said that she was in a relationship which was doomed to failure, and they were friends for a long time before he confessed his feelings for her.
To answer your question, loving someone who doesn't love you and/or is in another relationship often accentuates and focusses the love.
Of course- you could always have the person who is dating your crush killed. *joke* (Thats not a good thing to do and I think you'll find illegal in most countries- don't do that!)

Of course not. They say the heart has room for one and one only. It's not true, girl. We all go through it. Where we contemplate whether we want one or another. Because there are "MANY FISH" in the sea. And sometimes we stumble upon a couple that just fit our puzzle piece. It sucks. But don't come to a conclusion. Don't tell them what's up. Play around, get to know them on a DEEPER level (of course I don't mean in a sexual way like deep deep.) then make your decision. It will all turn out okay. But things take time. I noticed that the world is always turning... People are always trying to figure things out, make decisions as fast as they possibly can, when in reality, patience pays off. Good luck girly :)

Loving someone and seeking another girl for your life are 2 different things. One does not exclude the other. I think so.

well, you will want her more... but thats only because we wll want what we cant have. if you think that you can move on that would deffinatly be a better option because when she sees you with someone else her current bf may not be so desiarable. she wont want you as long as you are single.
