So sorry to hear about your mom. My husband thought he hurt his back at work. He went to the hospital and was told he had pneumonia and a cracked rib. The pain got worse and he went back 2 more times. He was diagnosed with lung cancer March 20th. Went thru radiation, chemo, gamma knife procedure, and took a drug called tarceva. No other symptoms. By the time he was diagnosed it had spread everywhere. Sadly, he passed June 6th. I am still reeling. While he was sick, we had a lot of cook outs and parties with friends and family Took alot of pictures. We went to his favorite places ate what he wanted played pool at midnight until 4 am. Whatever hew wanted to do whenever he wanted to do it. Try to stay strong. It is very hard. I dont know what would happen if I didnt have kids. They are my sole reason for living. Good luck to you.

Has the doctor given a diagnosis of lung cancer or was it you? If she hasn't been seen by a doctor for a diagnosis, then she should be because there is more going on here than a person can diagnose over the internet.

Forgetfulness is something seen with diabetics -especially if they are brittle diabetics. Talking goofy can happen if the blood sugar is out of kilter or if there is some idiosyncratic reaction to the insulin.

If it is cancer, it is hard to say if it can spread this quickly.

Some cancers can spread very quickly indeed. And if your mom has either diabetes or a brain tumor that can effect the memory. Especially if she has forgotten to take her medicine. You may want to look into having someone stay with her.

Good luck!
