I don’t know quite what to do. I really like this guy at the local pet store I go there every second week and we chat a little. I really would like to ask him to a formal dinner party I have to attend but don’t know if it would be a little weird to ask! What do you guys think?

I wouldn't ask to him to a formal dinner party right away. Start out with some thing a little less stressful. Sure ask him out but maybe to some thing a little less formal at first. I would be stresssed out going to a formal dinner party if it were the first date I went out on with a girl. I would prefer to start out with some thing more fun like dinner or a movie or some thing like that

I think you should ask him. But you need to take care of two things. First, ask him in such a manner which does not give him a shock so try to be as normal as you can. Secondly, prepare yourself mentally to hear negative response as well.

Go into the store more often right before the party..mention the party...tell him how much fun its going to be...then ask him to come with you..Do it slowly and it won't be creepy.
