A bland or soft diet is designed to decrease or avoid irritation of the gastrointestinal tract.
It is used by people with peptic ulcers, chronic gastritis, Reflux esophagitis or dyspepsia of hiatal hernia.

The soft/ bland diet consists of foods that are easily digestible, mildly seasoned and tender:

Milk
Plain mild cheeses
Cottage cheese
Eggs
Broth bouillon or Cream Soups
White, refined wheat, seedless rye breads. Plain white rolls, white melba toast, matzo, English muffin, bagel, pita bread, tortilla
Saltines, graham, soda or plain crackers
Cooked, refined cereals such as cream of wheat, oatmeal, farina, cream of rice. Dry corn and rice cereals such as puffed rice or corn flakes
Potatoes
Rice, barley, noodles, spaghetti, macaroni, and other pastas

Fried foods, highly seasoned foods and most raw or gas-forming fruits and vegetables are ELIMINATED.

Yes- chicken and brown rice. But the only thing I would add is that you want to cook the rice longer than you normally would for your own consumption, it makes it easier for the dog to digest and white rice works the best because it cooks down better than brown rice. Also you can fast your dog for a day...all the water the dog wants but no food. My dog gets an upset stomach and the vet will suggest a day or two of no food. I usually can only withhold food for a day at the most because I can't stand when my dog looks at me like "Why aren't you feeding me? I love food!"

mashed potatos, scrambled eggs, applesauce. [ if a doctor suggested a bland diet, ask the doctor for a list of foods one can eat.
