I may have got a tricket, but some joker may have removed it. Whatever, but the fine has now doubled to £60 because I didn't pay it. What can I do?

If you were parked illegally, you don't have much of a case. You can write to the parking shop and say you didn't get a ticket, but you'll be one of thousands and you won't get much sympathy.

If you refuse to pay, the parking authority will issue a small claims summons. You can contest this and attend a hearing at the County Court. The chances are, the other side won't show up - it's hardly worth sending a lawyer round for £60. You need to decide whether it's worth the hassle and time off work just for a 50:50 chance of saving £60.

Write to the address on the letter you have received and explain to them that there was no parking ticket on your car and ask them if they have made a mistake. If you weren't parked illegally, then obviously you must fight the parking fine as well. Give as much information as possible, where you were parked, what the parking restrictions were and how long you parked for. Give the time you arrived and the time you departed. Good luck they are very hard to fight. If possible go back to the area and take pictures of where you parked and any parking restrictions.

I don't know if you can get the fine reduced - they must hear this story 100 times a day - but they should have taken a photo of you parked illegally so you can demand to see this if you have doubt a ticket was issued

I would pay the fine then appeal. Reason - the fine will just get bigger untill it ends up in court. This way you know its been paid and if it turns out to be wrong you will get your money back.

write to the people that issued you with a ticket, and explain your problem and offer to pay the £30 and say that if they check their cameras then they would know that someone else took your ticket.

write in and appeal, its my experience that they are reasonable. Beware that most traffic wardens take a photograph showing the ticket on the screen and the offence that has ben committed

the guy who violated the regulation, YOU, were given the cost tag not the vehicle. So no matter if you've a vehicle or a sparkling vehicle, you nonetheless have that violation on your record and favor to pay the nice.
