When asked about straightners people immediately answer GHD , but iam put off by the price, And many of the popular ones such as Babyliss pro 230 (good reviews in amazon) say they have got only tourmaline or ceramic coating which means their coating is definetly going rip off sooner or later. So the ones i have selected are PHILIPS tresemme jade pro ceramic , Toni & Guy 25mm tourmaline seriously straight ones which are available at a less price.

But which is best?, i mean jade plates seems to protect hair color keeping the heat in the plates rather than transfering to the hair so less damage while Tourmaline coating gives negative ions to reduce frizz but i dont know if they transfer the heat but there is much hype and emphasis on this ionic hair straightners and jade ones are only found in philips ( i think its not so popular ). I dont know which to believe so i thought of asking someone who owns this for a longer time and can give me a better technical advice about straightners.

GHD are the best and none of the others can really compete. Few months ago a salon local to me had an offer going on where you could take in your old straigtners and exchange them for GHD's and only pay £50.00.

See whether anything like that is available near you.

GHD are the best without a doubt.

Babyliss are awful i bought them and my hair started breaking really badly.

Try ebay, HQ hair, in order to buy GHD at a cheaper price as they are the BEST!!

Make sure you always use heat protective products when using heating styling aids to mimise damage.

They do damage your hair. But ceramic straighteners actually seal the cuticles of your hair making it shiny and smooth. They don't snag on your hair either. Also, using a heat protection spray helps protect your hair from the heat damage. If you tied your hair after straightening your hair then that might be the reason you have the bump. If your hair is heated then it's easier to style so the hair tie [or whatever you use] kind of acts like a styling tool and leaves the bump.

I would be turned off by the price of a GHD too but one of my friends recently bought one online and it wasn't as expensive. But it's definitely worth the price. In my experience there's no better straightener.
If your worried about damaging the hair ask your hairdresser to sell you a bottle of that protecting serum, they work well too.

OK GHD all the way!! I bought one a few years ago and 3 years later it broke after me using it every single day!! I then was cheap and bought the Tresemme one that apparantly had all these special cooling features so it wouldn't damage your hair as much it was absolutely crap!! not worth half of what I paid for it!! So within 2 months it broke and I bought a GHD again!! Seriously it is well worth what you pay considering they last at least 3 years!!

I have GHD's. They are well worth the money and save alot of time too. My cousin has wet to straight remmington and they are good too, but you pay £89 for wet 2 straight so i think u'd be as well buying GHD's. I'm telling you, you will never regret it.

basically its all about the GHD's
They are expensive however they are well worth the money.
You can pick some up off ebay, where i got mine last year. They are only about £70. and they come fully boxed with the hologram and warranty too.

The one thing that i would suggest is that you invest in aussie mate 3 min conditiner.

I use my GHD's every day and they can be harsh on your hair, i use this conditioner every time i wash my hair and my hairdresser said that my hair is in good condition because of that

Also always make sure you use a heatr protector spray too

Hope this helps
