She is not ready to be mother, maybe later, dunno. She's in pain by cramping in her stomach. There is trick way to make her turn on the heat. Feed her high fatty foods like fried chickens, ice creams, cool whipped, peanut butter, etcs. She will feel less pain, she will be on heat and allow male dach to mate with her. It will take while.

I have two dachshunds. Dachshunds are loyal, loving-dog and smart.
Female dach is not just alike dumb female cats or other dogs for allowing male raping them. I just watched on Animal Planet channel that male cheetachs(misspelled, big cat) chase down female then raping her. She snares and scream. She dont even fight back. After she borns kittens, she left them behind because she is not ready to be mother.

Leave female dachshund alone till she s ready.

Well, Dachshunds are a little protective/aggressive. Not that your dog is mean (i love dachs) but they're general attitude is somewhat standoff-ish. Maybe it'll be hard for her to mate because of her attitude. Dogs also have the whole social thing where she may just not like him.

As for you PETA whackos tellin him not to breed his dog because "40billion dogs are without homes", you need to shut up and go get a real mission like fighting for human rights in China, Africa, the middle east, South America and other places with social unrest and extreme poverty. People make me sick.

If she's having her period it's not the time to be mated first off...secondly just because a female is in heat and there's a male available doesn't mean she's willing to do him. Like humans, dogs have preference to who they like, want to play with, and who they want to mate with...don't force it. If she's keeping him off she has the right to.

She is fed up with him. She will let him mate when she is ready. I have heard that if you seperate the dogs for a long while when they see each other they will mate but im not sure if that is true... She is probably just not ready to become a mommy.

some times it takes a few times before she becomes receptive. She has to figure out what is going on. Maybe she just isn't attracted to your male. keep trying she may not get into it this time, but maybe next time. and sometimes then it takes a few times to conceive.

She doesn't want to or she's not ready.
Why are you watching them? It will take 20-40 mins to tie, anyway.

Don't breed.
There are too many dogs in the world and we don't need your puppies to add to the amount of homeless dogs being euthanized each day.

*EDIT: Also, how old is she? She may not be READY to breed if she is too young or too old.

That is because she isn't ready to accept him. She will be in her prime around the 12 day of her cycle. To check when she is ready to stand for him. Scratch the back of her butt if she stand straight up and cocks her tail to one side she is ready. If you can keep them apart until she is in her prime. Another thing to check of is the color of her blood. If it turns a lighter color then she is about ready. Good luck to you and I hope this helps.

Nothing is wrong with her. She needs to play the hard to get game but she will only let him mount her when she is actually in heat. It's actually very normal.

Why do you not want to mate with certain individuals?
Think about it, animals may not do it for fun, but they have their preffs, too. Lack of chemistry, maybe she just sees him as a friend? lol
