Some people that say that "The South will rise again!" Would any of you really WANT that? Maybe if the Rebs had first freed the slaves and then fired on Ft. Sumpter Europe might have interviened. Would you WANT that? Good example of the feds using their power over states in recent years is the 55 mph speed limit. It went on for years until CA stopped writing tickets. The feds threatened to cut off highway funds. CA threatened to stop collecting federal income tax from their citizen's paychecks. Then things got REAL quiet for a while. In less than a year the "double nickle" was gone. And THIS, my friends, is what the war was all about. States' rights. We were drawn closer together, yet we saw what war with ourselves can do. Settling the 55 by offering to cut off funds from the world's seventh largest econony was a mature stroke of genius. Much better outcome than trying to attack Washington. What were they thinking? Racisim aside, I think the Southerners would have had LESS freedom.

i would live in the CSA...and all my folks fought for the union...

BTW thats incorrect on black soldiers.....

about 60,000 blacks served the south but only 5,000
were combat veterans, the rest were drivers/cooks/servants.

in the north the number was close to 200,000 with well
over 50,000 being combat veterns the number may have
been as high as 100,000...

thats not to disparage the brave black confederate soldier
who fought for thier country...its just simple numbers of fact.

If the South had been left alone and the North not tried to impose their restrictions on slavery, slavery was already dying anyway. Most estimates were 15 - 20 years more tops. Farm machines were being invented that would have replaced slaves.

You know Arizona for a long time did not get highway funds because they refused to have a MLK day. When the feds cut off the highway money the state stopped all work and repair on the highway, 5 years later it cost the feds 20 times what they had held back to fix the roads. Arizonia eventually made a holiday for the commie anyway.

I don't think I would be able to even be here and typing this if the South had won the Civil War. Didn't the Southerners have something against immigrants? If yes, then i don't think all the racial rights and freedoms would have been made and i'd probably be in Taiwan where my parents were born.

What, we lost?

No one wants slavery, no sane person anyway, but I do think states should have more say in government. States have very little representation in federal government and the federal government has way to much power.

I am from the south, I didn't know what a black person was until I was about 4 years old, I was not taught prejudice and I don't teach it to my children. People are people and we should all just live our lives.

But I do love the south.

every one is saying the the blacks in the south were forced to join the military,, well I'm sorry but ya'll need a history lesson, there were more free black confederate soldiers that there were free black union soldiers. Don't get me wrong there were some that were still slaves and used as cooks and what not, but there were more that were free than slaves. they also joined voluntarily to defend there homes and families, from an invasion force from the north. they fought next to there white brothers in arms, and not segregated from them and lead by a white officer, like they was in the north.heck many of the blacks owned slaves them selves, but nobody likes to talk about that, or the fact that a majority of the blacks were happy in the south.

I believe the war would have been over anyway & slavery too.
I believe good would have won out. However, black people would probably be living seperately from all the rest of the population & basically have their own country inside this one.
Racial stereotyping & predjudice would be pretty bad. That i would not want to put up with any more than i have to in this day & age.
I am sure i would not be as comfortable if the South had won.

I sincerely believe if the union army could seen what this country has become they would have thrown down their weapons. My heart is still first and foremost with Virginia.

God Bless You and The Southern People.
