Or, I should say, a TON of houses. Seriously, why are churches necessary if God is everywhere? If you pray to God in the middle of nowhere, is it any different from in a church? Does a church amplify your prayers or something?

The purpose of church buildings is to provide a convenient meeting place for the faithful, and to give praise, honor, and glory to God.

As for praying to God anywhere or everywhere, that's not a bad practice, but it does have some limitations.

For example, one may actually experience the real and substanial (physical) presence of God, in a sacramental manner, inside any Catholic church.

This close proximity to God himself, "in the flesh" is both comforting and very powerful for many true believers.

And since, for the most part, Catholic churches are the only churches with the power to make the body, blood, soul, and divinity of the risen Christ present here on earth, there are a number of other advantages for those who choose to worship there.

For non-Catholic congregations, God has promised that when two or more are gathered in his name, he will be there, present in a spiritual manner.

So, having a place to worship together has definite spiritual advantages for Protestants, too.

In short, if you're not worshipping along with an established faith community, you're likely to be missing out on a number of very important blessings, including the fellowship of other good Christians.

It is not Allah that needs this place - church, mosque, temple, etc - it is us. You are right Allah is everywhere and prayer can be in the middle of no where. Places of worship are not meant to make prayers better nor are they a guarantee that prayers are answered.

A mosque is meant to be a place for muslims to gather and pray together, discuss matters of concern, learn, etc. But your prayer at home or in the desert is just as valid. You get more thawab (reward) for praying in a group rather than praying alone. This is meant to stress the importance of unity and unifying effort rahter than working in dispersed groups or on an individual basis.

Peace

God's house should be in your heart.
Men build churches specifically with the intention of having large numbers of followers that give 10% of their income without question.

Most churches are part of a larger corporation that lives off of the monies given by the church members.

There are many reasons for having a church building, and the main ones that come to mind are:
So His people can get together to worship God & edify each other
So people know where to go to know more about God

God's house is not simply the church we are, all God wants is a chance to use us... How can we expect answers to problems like hunger, poverty, and war when not enough of us are willing to allow our minds, bodies, hearts, and spirits to be a vessel for God's will? This is all God wants people want to put all these other things into to scare you instead of telling you the truth and that is all you need to do is have faith believe and receive the word of God and forsake your will for his...

Now I have seen witches that are willing to invoke spirits to preform magic, but people are afraid of allowing God in... Your Body is God's temple, this is the house he needs.

A part of the Christan walk is to fellowship with other believers. Its not God that needs the house really, it's us so that we can meet and fellowship in the presence of God. Together we all form the body of Christ. Also where two or three are gathered in the name of Jesus, He is present.
