Though I have enough basic amenities in my life, still i could not be contended

Happiness is a choice. It is a state of mind that one may choose to have. We can be grateful for our blessings and eagerly look for how we can make a difference in the world. We can look for our opportunities rather than our perceived limitations. We can appreciate the people in our lives or we can find fault with them. There are people living in poverty in undeveloped countries who find contentment and happiness, so I see no reason why I shouldn't find it in my life too. Just because I am content doesn't mean that I am complacent or that I have no goals. It simply means that I have gratitude for my life and the people and things in it.

Be grateful for what you have because there are people out there who would be "contended" with your "present life" and your "basic amenities." Happiness is a state of mind not how much you have. There are people out there who are sick and don't have access to computers to tell us how miserable they are...and they are truely unhappy with their present lives. Things can ALWAYS get worse so be happy with what you have now. Tomorrow you might have less.

Sorry if it sounds harsh, but this is reality.

For me I love to read when writing a short story or working on a novel, it makes me feel better. When my imagination take over thoughts of unicorns and queens and dragons. Knights and hero's, so fun try it. Write a story and read it to the young ones. They will love it. Achieve on a project be it singing a song you wrote at a un-name club at night, writing a poem at poetry.com

just to express your self, visit a Church an participate in a program, join a non-profit organization and help the needy, what ever it is try it imagine, dream paint, speak, sing, run.

Try this or try that and see it thru. Life is filled with extraordinary possibilities. Take hold and hold it by the reins and ride those dreams to the sunrise! God Bless. Love. Amen. (I know you can do it I can feel it). See ya.

Improving oneself is one of the most fundemental aspects in life. Its important that one has to fight for something in life, and live happily ever after. Remember, money and power don't bring any happiness; family is the most important thing.

This is really tough even when you are very religious. But you can train yourself till you achieve it. For me, what helped is the concept that 'Allah knows what is best for me'. I cannot know better. Maybe I am better off this way; lacking what I think is bad to lack. Maybe Allah is testing my patience. Maybe Allah means to reward me with better things I have not dreamt of.

Focus on the positive. Focus on what you have, even the little things, rather than the things you lack. Pray that you feel it.

Peace

By successfully penetrating the falsehood that is present in the things that fulfill the urges of our flesh - sex, money, power, etc. That they are impermanent. That the meaning we perceive from them is no other than the meaning we put on them. That they are inherently empty and devoid of absolute meaning.

222. O ye homeless and wanderers in the Path of God! Prosperity, contentment, and freedom, however much desired and conducive to the gladness of the human heart, can in no wise compare with the trials of homelessness and adversity in the pathway of God; for such exile and banishment are blessed by the divine favour, and are surely followed by the mercy of Providence. The joy of tranquillity in one's home, and the sweetness of freedom from all cares  281  shall pass away, whilst the blessing of homelessness shall endure forever, and its far-reaching results shall be made manifest.

Abraham's migration from His native land caused the bountiful gifts of the All-Glorious to be made manifest, and the setting of Canaan's brightest star unfolded to the eyes the radiance of Joseph. The flight of Moses, the Prophet of Sinai, revealed the Flame of the Lord's burning Fire, and the rise of Jesus breathed the breaths of the Holy Spirit into the world. The departure of Muhammad, the Beloved of God, from the city of His birth was the cause of the exaltation of God's Holy Word, and the banishment of the Sacred Beauty led to the diffusion of the light of His divine Revelation throughout all regions.

Take ye good heed, O people of insight!

(Abdu'l-Baha, Selections from the Writings of Abdu'l-Baha, p. 280)

O ye two believers in God! The Lord, peerless is He, hath made woman and man to abide with each other in the closest companionship, and to be even as a single soul. They are two helpmates, two intimate friends, who should be concerned about the welfare of each other.

If they live thus, they will pass through this world with perfect contentment, bliss, and peace of heart, and become the object of divine grace and favour in the Kingdom of heaven. But if they do other than this, they will live out their lives in great bitterness, longing at every moment for death, and will be shamefaced in the heavenly realm.

Strive, then, to abide, heart and soul, with each other as two doves in the nest, for this is to be blessed in both worlds.  123

(Abdu'l-Baha, Selections from the Writings of Abdu'l-Baha, p. 122)

Bahá'u'lláh taught that hearts must receive the Bounty of the Holy Spirit, so that Spiritual civilization may be established. For material civilization is not adequate for the needs of mankind and cannot be the cause of its happiness. Material civilization is like the body and spiritual civilization is like the soul. Body without soul cannot live.

(Abdu'l-Baha, Abdu'l-Baha in London, p. 30)

Appreciate the value of this precious Revelation, move and act in accordance with it and walk in the straight path and the right way. Show it to the people. Raise the melody of the Kingdom and spread abroad the teachings and ordinances of the loving Lord so that the world may become another world, the darkened earth may become illumined and the dead body of the people may obtain new life. Every soul may seek everlasting life through the breath of the Merciful. Life in this mortal world will quickly come to an end, and this earthly glory, wealth, comfort and happiness will soon vanish and be no more. Summon ye the people to God and call the souls to the manners and conduct of the Supreme Concourse. To the orphans be ye kind fathers, and to the unfortunate a refuge and shelter. To the poor be a treasure of wealth, and to the sick a remedy and healing. Be a helper of every  217  oppressed one, the protector of every destitute one, be ye ever mindful to serve any soul of mankind. Attach no importance to self-seeking, rejection, arrogance, oppression and enmity. Heed them not. Deal in the contrary way. Be kind in truth, not only in appearance and outwardly. Every soul of the friends of God must concentrate his mind on this, that he may manifest the mercy of God and the bounty of the Forgiving One. He must do good to every soul whom he encounters, and render benefit to him, becoming the cause of improving the morals and correcting the thoughts so that the light of guidance may shine forth and the bounty of His Holiness the Merciful One may encompass. Love is light in whatsoever house it may shine and enmity is darkness in whatsoever abode it dwell.

(Abdu'l-Baha, Baha'i World Faith - Abdu'l-Baha Section, p. 216)
