"popcorn" finishes had asbestos in them till the mid 70's when its use was banned. after this there should be no problem prior to this there is a good chance that it is ACBM. take a couple of the balls and rinse them in warm water if they are light brown it is more likely plastic. If the material forming the inside of the ball is white or grey it stands a good chance of being asbestos. Although there are precautions to take if it is in your home you can legally do the removal yourself.

I am and was a painting contractor in the 70s ...just starting out,but I can tell you that, asbestos ceilings pre date popcorn by a long time ...your popcorn does not have asbestos in it,unless you livein a part of the country that lagged behind in building methods.

it is very unlikely that it has asbestos in it, the "popcorn" spray mostly foam pellets......u can have it tested but the kit is very costly..ur best bet is to call either ur local health dept and see if they test for it or an independent company to test for it.....u should check for federal plans that might help u with the cost of the removal if asbestos found....

I doubt it does. usually that type of material is foam pellets. You could put some in a bag and send it to a lab and have it tested but its gonna be expensive. best to leave it alone and not make any of it air born

Heat it up, pour hot melted butter over it. and eat it. If you get cancer in 20 years you know it was bad stuff.
