my daughter is 2 1/2 and if she gets a nap in the afternoon (doesnt matter if the nap is from 12:30-1) she is up till 11PM, so I cut out her nap and she goes to bed between 730-8. But if I dont keep her moving and doing things then she gets grumpy around 530. I say cut the nap, earlier bed time means more time for you, or more time to get things done in the home before you hit the hay

maybe you could try putting him to bed later then 830. If he is taking a nap around noon and waking up at 2pm. Maybe he is not tired.

Naping for a 2 year old is a good thing.

I worked at a daycare and we did some research on that and some info said no naps and some said yes but I work at a hospital and I have been told it is good for there development mind wise and health wise. My kids are teenagers and they always lay down right after school. Our bodies need that rest and a little later bed time won't hurt. Do some things with him to help him get tired before bed.

I have a daycare and most of my 4 yr olds are not sleeping as much anymore but lately for the past week they have and this seems to be the trick. We have been going outside for a half hr everyday. I think that really helps they are also allowed to watch one movie at naptime but they have to be laying down on there naps and when the movie is over I shut it off and they have to continue to lay down and usually within 15 miniutes they are out.

My daughter is 4 & is just now cutting down her noon nap to 1 or 2 days per week. Many of her friends siblings that are in Kindergarten still take a noon nap.

We put her in bed and she use to sing to herself until 11 p.m. She in now 5 in kindergarten and they do not take naps. She is so tired by 7 p.m. that she takes a bath and go right to sleep. I have to wake her up in the morning to go to school. Me and my husband is loving the us time.

I think you should let him continue his nap. I think that if they have the nap the kids are more pleasant after dinner until bed time. Just my opinion.

i think by the age they're about to go to school.
they don't have a choice but to listen to teachers and do their activities. but i would say that would also make them grumpy sometimes.
