Someone told me to sprinkle a little cayenne or chili powder on the plant. It worked like a charm on one cat but not another.
And they love the cat grass you can buy in flats at health food stores like Wild Oats. I also buy sprout mixes for my own salads and give the cats a handful everyday. They no longer bother my plants and they really enjoy their "salads".

Be aware that cats will eat a plant that is poisonous to them. There is a long list of those poisonous to cats, check it out here.

My first suggestion would be to grow some plants that your cat can eat. This may help keep him(her) away from the houseplants you do not want nibbled on. Some of the best and easiest plants to grow for this purpose are oats, wheat and barley or another plant which most cats simply can not resist is catnip.
Remove any from reach or hang in a planter that are poisonous.
