why do they always go back to "Freedom isn't Free"...
If That's true why isn't it free...why should soldiers have to die to protect our laws we already have in place...i thought the Constitution granted us those freedoms...Why is it that if I disagree or dissent on Military tactics i'm called names like surrender monkey or terrorist-luver,etc???

I think that this whole war situation is terrible. We're there and tons of men and women are getting hurt or killed....I kind of feel like there doesn't seem to be a really clear reason that we're even there....I think that when people get mad if you say that you are not in support of the war because they combine the supporting of the troops and supporting of the war. I think that when people hear "I oppose the war" - they hear "I don't support the troops". In addition, the current administration is horrible and approval ratings are low so that is going to trickle on all hot political topics.

That's horrible that people call u that....

Because no one likes war. You make it sound like conservatives are trying to find or cause a war with anyone anywhere. Unlike most liberals however we understand that war is sometimes necessary, and we are willing to commit to it until it is done. We don't just want to pull out of a war cause some of our guys got killed. We know there are larger issues at stake. What people mean by freedom is not free is that if we want to stay free we have to stay strong or China or maybe Russia would have come here and taken our country. We damn sure would not be free then. The laws and rights granted to us in the constitution are only words of a piece of paper unless you are willing to defend them.

Personally the conservatives who are telling you this are probably just frustrated from people who don't understand their own viewpoints, they're are logical reasons both for and against the war, but most people pick a side without really looking at the facts,
Personally I like the first answerer who said we need to learn to agree to disagree.
As far as Iraq is concerned I do know this, for the first time these people are experiencing some form of freedom, Christian churches in the area are actually able to put up signs and crosses saying what they believe. I to also greive for the soldier's plight and their families's bit none of them were forced to enlsit either, they dont' train htem to carry weopons just so it looks good on a college application.
Anyway lest I babble futher, no we should not lose our temper and call names when someone disagrees with us, that's just childish.
Good Luck and God Bless

Freedom has to be paid for over and over again. It was not completed at the signing of the constitution. Everybody has the right to be for or against the war, and that is what the soldiers fight for. Conservatives understand that we don't live in a world of peace, love, and happiness. There are enemies of freedom.

I think many people do not understand how war protects the freedom and rights of those that win. It's also a bit ridiculous that before the war first began, a good majority were for it, but now that many are against it, how do they expect troops to just leave without finishing what they started. It doesn't make any sense.

Because they don't always respect the opinions of other people and they know we're in over our heads over in Iraq and their party is largely responsible for that. However, I have encountered several conservatives who are against the war and just as many who respect my opinion when I say that I support our troops but not the war. So, I guess it depends on the conservative. Just as there are Democrats who don't respect the opinions of Conservatives who say they're for the war. It all just equates to small minded people who aren't able to accept the fact that there ARE opinions which are different from theirs...and the names you've been called also attest to their ignorance.

Because there are many constitutions that grant freedoms that do not exist in reality. You have your freedoms because people in the military stand ready to defend those freedoms for you.

BTW - I find it amusing how you label people as 'conservatives' for disagreeing with you but take offense when labels are applied to yourself. You need to fix your own attitudes before you can ask others to fix theirs.

Most Conservatives have a simplistic "black or white" view of the world that does not accept ambiguities or multi-faceted solutions.

So, in their minds, you are either with them or you are with the terrorists, just as their Hero, George W Bush told America.

Don't worry, most of them are uneducated fools that will never amount to anything in life anyway. The few that were born with money will be looked down upon by their smarter brothers for the rest of their lives.

They have nothing else left.

Truth is, this war isn't about freedom for Iraqis OR fighting terrorism. It's all for the profit of all those private contractors like Halliburton and their ilk.

Our soldiers' lives are being risked for those greedy corporations to con a quick buck out of the American taxpayer.

And don't let people tell you it's about the oil. Iraq is not that big of a player in the oil game.

We recognize how asinine pulling away from the war is. How much do you value your current quality of life relative to living in this country? Realize it would be a whole lot different if not for the necessary evil that is war.
