not really, no. While it is true that any 4 year degree from an accredited college or university is allowed, the truth is, certain degrees are looked upon as being more comptetive for a slot. Math, Hard sciences and Engineering degrees are highly sought after. And it isn't enough to slide by either.. they want at least a 3.5 GPA before they will consider you on the short list.

They also look for leadership skills, Volunteerism, Sports and other extracurricular activities.. they want well rounded individuals

Yes. The Navy allows all American citizens under 35 with a BS or higher from any accredited institution to apply to go to Officer Candidate School at Pensacola, FL. This is a 13 week program that transforms both enlisted sailors and civilians into Naval Officers. The application process is highly competitive and those with engineering or science majors are more likely to be picked over a liberal arts major but it is still possible to be accepted no matter what your major is.

This website should help you, and if it doesn't answer your specific question, you can use it to have a recruiter contact you. Don't worry about them harrassing you; if you decide it's not for you then ask them to remove you from their calling list.

Btw, I THINK it doesn't matter as long as you have a 4-year degree, bc mine is in music and they would have taken me as an officer. However, you may not get to use that specific degree as a Navy officer. Something else you should know is that if you go enlisted, they will pay off your existing college loans, as long as they are not in default. And the Navy will pay off a greater amount in college loans than any other branch.

Depends on what you want to do.

For the most part the Military is going to train you their way. I had a degree in construction and flew helos. Also worked as Intel and safety officer. If you want to be technical (Nuclear, pilot, medical, law) you need to start taking classes to prepare (math, physics, biology). They really don't care about the degree but you have to be prepared. They will train you but the classes move fast. They don't have time to go back an teach you basic math and physics.

Engineering, math, and degrees in the hard sciences are preferred over Liberal Arts.
