Okay, I'm not in want of answers like "Don't buy puppies online" I'm in want of what I should ask an online seller to ensure that they are legit and all that. I've gotten so far as requesting refferences, but i know that's not enough. I've also decided that asking for pictures of the parents is a good idea, too, as well as what conditions the puppies are raised in. See, no breeders in the area of the dog that I want so I cantacted a woman online about a puppy I want before I knew buying dogs online is a bad idea and I really really want a puppy and I don't want to settle for a beagle when what I really want is a papillon. Patience is not my forte. But, babbling rambling aside...
What should I ask for? Pictures in a specific position so I know it's not stock photography? C'mon, help a girl out here.

Be sure contact the references..Ask for a pic of the pup with its mom, in the living room..Asking for a set-up photo doesn't really insure the breeder is legit, because the African Scams take any pic you want, but just never deliver the puppy..They sell the same one over and over..But, contacting former buyers, from all over, may be of help..
The online breeders at http://www.pets4you.com/pap.html are guaranteed by the site owner to be legit. There are 11 Papillon breeders listed there...If a breeder has even one claim launched against them, they are tossed off that site..
A reputable breeder will ask more questions about YOU and your living conditions and experience, and will never 'hard-sell' a puppy..meaning, they won't try to talk you into it..
Never wire money!

A good way to find a good line is to go to a dog show. Be careful. They are very protective of their show animals. I sent you a site in your email, hopefully there is some information that will enlighten you on questions you will want to ask a breeder. You would like to see the line if you are interested in quality. Parents, grandparents. It depends on what you are looking for and what you are willing to pay for.

Take the puppy to your vet. Make sure the puppy is healthy. Have it checked out yourself!! Before you buy!! Read up on the breed you are interested in. Find out what problems the Papillon's tends to have. If hip displacia is a problem get an X-ray. The more you know about the dog you like the more questions you will know to ask. Talk to your vet.

Don't buy a mail order dog!!!!!!!!!

OK hope this helps...you can go to www.puppyfind.com
it a safe site with a lot of rule to protect the seller and the buyer. and the payment is done through a pay pal plan they have to have vet checks paper if reg. and in good reg. standing and puppy find checks these people out. so you could try checking it out and see what all they require. i sold unreg. puppy there once. just type in the breed and your off. there pictures a facts. good luck and don't settle for any thing less than what you really want...you will be happier ....and if it is reg with AKC it will have to have been micro chipped. ask if it has. if not why? its the law.with AKC . and the parents of the pup too. so that way the numbers on all three match up...that way you no that pup came from that pair...good luck...

If the breeder is selling registered dogs, check with the registry to see if she is a member in good standing, and make sure the puppy's parents are registered. Ask for a health certificate for the specific dog you are buying -- and you can require it to be checked or tested for any specific disease or condition that is relevant to that breed. Get permission to contact her vet (get the number from information) and talk to the vet about the animals and their environment.

Ask for copies of health reports, hips, eyes, heart, thyroid, etc.
however, everything you ask for, unless you meet the breeder face to face, meet the dam and sire, example the whelping area yourself, can be faked. There is no assurance.
