Paper umbrella's in a beautiful large vase with an Asian themed design. A large print of bamboo leaves etc.. bamboo green, red, black, with some blue would be great. Get a lacquered coffee table and place a Japanese tea set on a red square in the middle of it. A white sofa small in size would be good. Use of wood, clay, ceramics, texture and form. Keep it simple and open. Lots of websites to help you. They have beautiful bamboo bowls and plates on the market cheap right now.

A folding shoji screen for the windows, Google them, I found a big selection.

A sand garden (builders sand) in a black glossy tray or low square dish, with pebbles and a little rake. Great for a coffee table.

A rattan or naturally woven floor covering.

If you are a crafter, you could press some fern leaves to dry under weighted books or a board .
Lay down a sheet or two of newspaper with paper towels on top to absorb the moisture out of the ferns, do the same on top. Press them to dry and flatten them. After a few days frame them in appropriate frames . I think they would be correct to your room. I would only do one per frame.

Craft stores have the stick bundles. These would be good in glossy vases. Either floor height or table height.

They stay with the clean, sleek, minimalist look.

Good luck and have a great time.

Put some japanese lanterns that you can hang on the corners.. or use the kind that you put right on the floor. As a focal point, hang a really big framed picture of an ancient japanese scene on your biggest/most spacious wall..the really low table everyone's talking about will look great in this part of the unit. also, i think you'll like having one of those artificial water fountains made of bamboo. hmm..but whatever you do, remember to keep it minimal and very.. err.. 'nature-inspired'.
