I asked a question about the virgins in Paradise, and some Muslims got upset about it. Some denied there was anything in the Quran about it, but here it is in black and white, in the description of the rewards received in Paradise:

055.056: In them will be (Maidens), chaste, restraining their glances, whom no man or Jinn before them has touched

If you don't like what's in the Quran, why are you a Muslim? What's to be ashamed of? At least in Muslim countries there are still some virgins. What's wrong with some rewards in Paradise?

Asaaalamalaikum (Peace be upon you)
To the ignorant person who left a message regarding the Prophet:
Can you please cite your sources? You put random things down and expect everyone to believe it. And yes, the Prophet did have 9 wives. I'll explain:
1. He didn't have 9 wives at one time.
2. Some of his wives were widows who were poor and needed sustenance.
3. He also married in attempt to unify the people (at the time, it was common to have alliances through marriage [Aisha].

We Muslims have nothing to be ashamed of except for some other people who claim to be Muslims and kill innocent people.
However this is clearly forbidden in Islam.
Jihad can only be performed in self-defense and innocent people cannot be harmed.
Women, children, and the elderly cannot be killed.

Finally...so what if virgins are a reward? Men have their respective rewards just as women have their respective rewards.

Muslims here are trying to preach Islam as the solution to all problems and some of them are Western [or White] converts. They know that a lot of things about Islam and Mohammad would turn off the Westerners totally and hence try to white wash these things.

For example, everyone who knows Islam knows that Mohammad had 9 wives and 21 concubines. That he was so morally bankrupt that he even coveted his own adopted son's wife - Zainab bint Jhash, whom her husband had to divorce to have his adoptive father take her.

Everyone knows that Mohammad married Khadijah bint Khuwailid, when he was in his 20's and she was in her 40's and that she was the Owner of the Caravan he had just joined to work in. That, when he was young, he also married Sawda bint Zam'a, Salma bin Umayya both of whom were 65 years old and the older Zainab bint Khuzayma, who died just three months after marrying him. All of these were rich old ladies and he was a poor guy.

He acquired a taste for younger women, when he was in his 50's and had made himself the "Prophet" and used to "play" with Aisha Siddiqa bint Abu Bak'r, his lieutenant's daughter since she was 6 and whom he "married" when she was 9!?

While this perfectly acceptable in the Middle East, it is considered very bad in the West. Here, we'd call him a gigolo and a pedophile.

This is why the Muslims here try to cover it up.

Frankly speaking, you have to be intellectually and mentally challenged to beilieve in this thing, if you're a Westerner.

That's why the Muslims are ashamed of this.

Like you rightly said, they shouldn't stay Muslims when they are ashamed of this, because they're just hypocrites.

Merry Christmas!!!!

I am sorry to hear some muslims are ashamed of some words in the Quran but also I do not see the point of asking about maidens in Heaven. Is this what Islam is for you? or for men in general?

I am a muslim, proud to be a muslim and proud to be veiled as well.

Peace

I've never seen them ashamed of anything, even the prophet marrying a 6 year old girl. But it miffs them because they are trying to convert with half-truths and we call them out on the whole truth and that shoots down their point of view.

Isalm is the religion of peace (yeah, right, I have 30 citations from the Quran on killing the non-believer)

It protects women (yeah, right, the Quran SAYs you can beat them as a last resort).

I'm a Muslim and I'm not ashamed of that. Why shouldn't Maidens be a reward? Tell me, don't men have problems in finding good women for themselves? Women will get their reward too.

10. HOOR:

Question:

According to the Qur’an when a man enters paradise, he will get hoor, i.e. beautiful maidens. What will a woman have when she enters paradise?

Answer:

1. Hoor mentioned in the Qur’an

The word hoor occurs in the Qur’an in no less than four different places:

(1) In Surah Dukhan chapter 44, verse 54

"Moreover, We shall join them to companions
With beautiful, big and lustrous eyes."
[Al-Qur’an 44:54]

(2) In Surah Al-Tur chapter 52 verse 20

"...And We shall join them to companions, with beautiful,
big and lustrous eyes."
[Al-Qur’an 52:20]

(3) In Surah Rahman chapter 55 verse 72

"Companions restrained (as to their glances), in goodly pavilions."
[Al-Qur’an 55:72]

(4) In Surah Al-Waqiah chapter 56 verse 22

"And (there will be) companions with beautiful, big and lustrous eyes."
[Al-Qur’an 56:22]

2. Hoor Translated as Beautiful Maidens

Many translators of the Qur’an have translated the word hoor as ‘beautiful maidens’ especially in the Urdu translations. If hoor means ‘beautiful maidens’ or girls, then they are meant only for the men. Hence, what will the women get if they enter Paradise?

3. Meaning of Hoor

The word hoor is actually the plural of ahwar (applicable to man) and of haura (applicable to woman) and signifies a person having eyes characterized by hauar a special quality bestowed upon a good soul, male or female in paradise and it denotes the intense whiteness of the white part of the spiritual eye.

The Qur’an describes in several other verses that in paradise you will have azwaj which mean a pair or spouse or companion which means you will have spouses or companions pure and holy (mutaharratun means pure, holy).

"But give glad tidings to those who believe and work righteousness, that their portion is gardens, beneath which rivers flow. Every time they are fed with fruits therefrom, they say: "Why, this is what we were fed with before", for they are given things in similitude; and they have therein companions pure (and holy); and they abide therein (forever)".
[Al-Qur’an 2:25]

"But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, We shall soon admit to Gardens, with rivers flowing beneath – their eternal home; therein shall they have companions pure and holy: we shall admit them to shades, cool and ever deepening". [Al-Qur’an 4:57]

Therefore the word hoor has no specific gender. Mohammad Asad has translated the word hoor as spouse and Abdullah Yusuf Ali as companion. Therefore according to some scholars a man in paradise will have a hoor that is a beautiful maiden with beautiful big and lustrous eyes and a woman in paradise will get a man with beautiful big and lustrous eyes.

4. Women will get something exceptional in Paradise
Many scholars say that in context, the word hoor used in the Qur’an refers only to ladies since gents are addressed. A reply that would be accepted by all types of people would rather be the answer given in the Hadith when a similar question was posed that if a man gets a hoor, a beautiful Maiden in Paradise, then what will the women get? The reply was that the women will get that which the heart has not desired for, the ear hasn’t heard off and the eye hasn’t seen, indicating that even the women will get something exceptional in Paradise.

Why aren't more Christians ashamed of what's in the Bible?

After all, the Old Testament encourage the killing of innocent women and children. Rape. Incest. Slavery. Killing children for rebellion. Killing children for making fun of a bald man. Killing one's own son or daughter to prove your commitment to God.

Don't believe it? Well, you clearly haven't read the Bible.

The Bible is full of horrific and inhumane material.

So, are you ashamed of it?

They don't want outsiders to know what they believe. This way, when they are in control of an area, they can force everyone to follow their religious beliefs, or die. - As stated in the Koran.
