Hindi is our national language. Good. But it should not be counted as a demerit or defect of a person, if he does not know Hindi. Unfortunately such policies prevail in the Central Government bodies of India.

You cannot become a Kendriya Vidhyala teacher, if you dont know Hindi. Whatever be your qualification and ability, if you dont know Hindi, you will be disqualified. In many departments, you can find that, if you complete a course in Hindi, you will get promotion easily.

When the students of non-Hindi regions study three langauages in their curriculum, the students of Hindi areas study only two. It certainly affect the performance of our students. So it will be better either to drop Hindi, or add one South Indian language in the currriculum of Hindi belt. Let their children speak Telugu or Tamil or Kannada or Malayalam and contribute to the national integrity.

Let us make a strong India; and not a Hindia.

Every country should have a binding language. A language that is commonly spoken and understood. Since North India suffered the most under the British they have a natural aversion to English being the main language. It is a folly since the world is becoming global. Many Southerners speak English. Though it is good to know Hindi, English should also be accepted and learnt. As India becomes a player in the global market, English will become the main communication language.

One person here mentioned that when she goes down south she expects people to understand her and vice versa. That is a real dumb statement. Why can't she learn English or the language of the place she is going to?

Bcoz Hindi is Indian National Language. N very easy to speak . I think there should be no burden to anyone. If anyone feel comfortable in speaking in his/her own language, than there is nothing wrong . But if any official work comes in way N without Hindi it is not running smoothly than it should be use must. As being a National Language ,almost in every Indian state it is spoken, written N taught. But it should not be a center point of fighting. Bcoz every language is a part of Knowledge N teaches us the lesson of Love. So we should have intentions, behave N should be practical like a Literate person with self respect, not like Illiterates . Some political parties / personalities use this issue for their own gain/ purpose. So they use this like an arm . N innocent people become pray of their dirty game. So their is need of public awareness N only we people can do that. take care Thank You..

It's not that north Indians are imposing hindi on the rest. It's the same case as how english is prevalent in most countries of the world.

Any way, in south India we are learning hindi along with the national language. And I see many north Indian businessmen speaking south Indian languages.

Hindi is our main language in India for communication!!And if somebody is not fluent in Hindi it's not his/her fault!
I am not saying that on should not speak their mother tounge because that is more important but at the same time one should noe hindi too!!
I say so because it binds our country!!What if tommorow u have a job in punjab??One does not expect u to learn punjabi but atleast hindi will help u to communicate!!
Now when i go down south i would expect people to understand me and vice versa. Here comes hindi to the rescue!!
Nobody is making our country Hindia!!everybody should noe their mother tounge properly but at the same time one should learn hindi too if not too well but a little bit!!
Believe me it helps!!!

It is good to love one's own language. But in a multi cultural environment, whatever language that helps you make a successful living/career should not be shunned. Be it English or Hindi...
There is a substantial population of Gujarati, Marwari community in Southern India, who can speak local languages fluently. Its a matter of choice of the individual...
