No. Carpal Tunnel only affects the carpals and metacarpals in the wrist and hand.

Chances are that the pain originates higher up, perhaps in your spinal column. You may have a herniated disk or some other problem caused by compression of the spine that is causing nerve compression and/or damage. You should see a neurological specialist for proper diagnosis.

If it does turn out to be spinal problems, your options may include surgery, pain management and physical therapy, or chiropractic treatment. Surgery can have unwanted side effects that only complicate matters, but some swear by it. Pain management and physical therapy can help reduce inflammation and pain, although if the compression continues the nerves may eventually die (which will end or lessen the pain, but also the strength in that arm). Chiropractors can be hit and miss, but some people find them very helpful. I personally give full credit to my chiropractor for completely getting rid of pain similar to that which you are experiencing without having to have surgery.

Good luck.

You should be tested for the pain you are experiencing. Ask to be referred to a good neurologist.
