In this journey of life, we are faced with difficult situations as well as happy moments. Most of the time we find it hard to continue on our journey when things don't exactly go the way we planned them. Or we see no hope in persevering anymore because we have had to face so much of trouble and disappointments in trying to realise our dreams.

It is in times like this that our friends and family, those who care for us, tell us that we should not give up because 'Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining'. It means that the troubles and the hardships that we are going through are but an indication of the success and the fulfillment of our dreams and our efforts that awaits us at the end of the struggle. So, we should persevere, even if we find it tough to go on.

When a cloud comes between us and the sun, the sun's light penetrates only the edge of the cloud where it is not as thick as in the center. The dense part of the cloud obscures the light. The edge of the cloud, then, appears to have a "silver lining".

The analogy is, then, that even a dark cloud - which can block the light of the sun - can't hold back the light from the very edge of the cloud. And, as soon as the cloud moves on, the light will come back again.

See? It's a statement of hope when things look bad.

It means that where ever there is darkness there is also light. Something terrible might have happened to you, but it still happened for a reason. Maybe, one day you will be walking down the street and the heel of your shoe will break, causing you to slow down a bit or even take a new path and you think what a terrible day you are having and things couldnt get worse...but little did you know that had that heel not broken you would have kept on that same path at that same speed and crossed a street without looking and got hit by a bus!

It means that every in every bad situation, we can find something good that will come of it.
The implication is that even though we look at clouds as ominous thunderclouds which will rain on us and ruin our day, if we look closely, it looks as if they are lined with silver.
When the chips are down, look closely and you will find some good.

It means that no matter how bad a thing is, there is something good about it. You break a leg-people will help carry your groceries or you have an excuse to sit out the tedious party you were dreading.

I think it means that in every situation, you can always find the good in it.
