If you can make a big pot of soup stock, you'll have all sorts of meals for days.

Add macaroni and some spaghetti sauce for "minestrone".

Add soba noodles or ramen noodles for noodle soup.

Add some more potatoes and carrots (well cooked) and thicken with corn starch for stew. (Add cooked meat too, if you like -- chop small for the toothless one.)

Add Japanese curry roux for Japanese curry.

Use it to make stuffing (add cooked chicken for a chicken-bread casserole).

Hope that helps!

Smoothies are good, too -- you got your fruit, your calcium/protein, and have it with a few cookies or crackers, and you've got your starches as well. My favorite smoothy: one frozen banana, cut into chunks, with a cup of milk and either some strawberries/strawberry jam or chocolate syrup. Add sugar or honey as needed.

Slightly over-cooked Mac & Cheese from a box. About as cheap as anything.

Smoothies in the blender with a banana, ice, milk and frozen berries. Yogurt in a smoothie is always good too.

Cheezy scrambled eggs...soft warm, comforting, very cheap.

J-E-L-L-O! Lots of it!

Mandarin oranges right out of the can. Sweet, cool, fresh tasting, soft.

Oatmeal with cinnamon and a little sugar sprinkled on it...w/cool milk on top.

"Loaded" mashed potatoes...w/shredded cheese, some bacon bits, maybe sour cream. With a side of peas cooked a little well done.

When I had my wisdom pulled, I had soup - Lentil, tomato, chicken noodle stuff I really didn't have to chew. I also added silken tofu to boost the protien content.

Apple sauce... smoothies (Jamba juice).

Also, oatmeal, pudding, tapioca and rice pudding.

Creamiest Rice Pudding
INGREDIENTS
1/2 gallon milk
1 cup white sugar
1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
3 eggs, lightly beaten
1/4 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
ground cinnamon to taste
DIRECTIONS
In a large saucepan over medium-low heat, combine 1/2 gallon milk, sugar and rice. Simmer, covered, 1 hour, stirring frequently. Remove pan from heat and let rest 10 minutes.
In a small bowl, combine eggs, 1/4 cup milk, salt and vanilla. Stir into rice mixture and return pot to low heat, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes. Pour into a 9x13 inch dish and cover with plastic wrap, folding back the corners to allow the steam to escape.
When pudding has cooled to room temperature, remove plastic wrap and sprinkle surface of pudding with cinnamon. Cover tightly (with fresh wrap) and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight before serving.

Best of luck to you!
