This error appears when you do not have DVD codecs (MPEG-2 and Dolby Digital) installed. If you bought the computer from an OEM like HP or Dell, they would have installed this for you. It sounds like you built this PC yourself, so you need to install these yourself. You can get them from Nvidia, Intervideo, or Cyberlink. I recommend NVidia's for $20: http://www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_decoder.html

The other people are right, you need a DVD decoder, which is not included in Windows Media Player 10. However Microsoft has included one in Windows Media Player 11, so just upgrade to that, here is a link:http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/default.aspx

you need a codec for your dvd rom drive. your best bet would be to find out the brand and model number of your dvd drive and see if you can find the original software with it. another thing you can do is purchase dvd player software which already comes with the codec. once you install that software, WMP10 will play dvd's fine.

check out CyberLink's PowerDVD software.

Try downloading DivX Codec and see if that helps.
