I believe I got them for speeding, moving violation and no insurance at one time all in diffrent cities in Texas. I haven't driven since my DL was suspended yrs ago. I am wanting to go get my DL back. Do I have to still pay the fines or will they have expired? I live in Virginia now and want to get a new DL again. I know I will have to take a test over but what do I need to do to take care of all this so I can get to drive again.

since you can't specify what the charges were-good luck with that. The penalties are different for different offenses. Guess what-contact the court.

There are a few things that will happen and a few things that already have. First of all, yes you must pay the tickets. In addition you have to pay a fine per ticket for not going to court and taking care of them. Right now there are 6 warrants out for your arrest. The 3 tickets have turned into warrants and an additional FTA warrant per ticket. "Failed To Appear" warrants. Each has a separate fine. If Virginia has what is called a reciprocal jurisdiction rule they will not issue a license until Texas is cleared up. They cannot arrest you for the warrants but you will be denied a license or they will allow you to get one, then suspend it.

You need to contact the municipality in each place you got a ticket, make arrangements to pay the warrants - they don't want you, they'd rather have the money. Then once paid off get a receipt and send it to the Texas DMV License Division to reinstate your Texas license, another fee will be imposed there. Then you can get a Virginia license and pay them too.

You could return to Texas, turn yourself into the authorities in each municipality and go to their respective jail to "do the time" as well. Then they will be removed, again get a receipt, send it in to Tx DMV and then go back to Virginia for a license.

Keep in mind it all takes time and could be a few months.

You will be assessed a fine, but if you can't afford or just don't want to pay the fine, you can do an appropriate amount of community service in leau of the fine. They probably will charge you filing or other fees, though.
