One who realizes it's impractical to turn the remains of a loved one into a Mercedes S550.

I had heard of this before and considered asking to have it done, but I only have a son and didn't want to end up possibly being part of a future divorce settlement - can I have my momma's remains ring back? Instead I'm going with being sprinkled into stained glass.

To have it done is more expensive than going out and buying an existing diamond. I never thought of it as materialistic, more of as a way of staying with my child and being a part of his children's life.

What kind of disrespectful, materialistic person puts the remains of a loved one in the ground to decompose? It's all a matter of perspective.

If they are materialistic they won't do it, because it costs them a bundle to turn the loved one into a diamond. This is really for the rich.

Probably the kind who wants to keep the person around for a long time, and wants something beautiful to remember them by.

Wouldn't the process cost more than the resultant diamond?

I doubt they see it as materialistic. More likely they see it as a way to preserve their loved one's remains in a long-lasting way.

I cannot imagine anybody would do that just to gain a valuable. More likely, they would go to the trouble (and expense) of doing this to symbolise having that person with them always and remembering them. I think it is a lovely idea.

To me it would be creepy, but to the woman who did that it's a way to honor her husband. People should respect what it means to her.
