Is this supposed to be mostly rote memory or what?

I can link and make sense of some info when getting down to memorizing drug facts, but some of these side effects bother me since they apply to all body systems and that seems like a overload!

Try to start with flashcards. Start your way with 3-4 cards then work your way through 100, and work your way as far as you can. Also reading in general about the drug helps. Sometimes the latin words or a phomene can trigger the meaning of the drug. another is attaching emotional significance to the drug. For example, WARFARIN IS COUMADINE the emotional attahment I put in is not enough love - deals with the heart, treated for a-fib, artifical heart valves, pulmonary embolism - It's not enough love because it screws with the patiants vitamin k, hmm what other not enough love meds are out there, then you keep going.

The fact i do pharmacology makes it easier for me. If you know what kinds of agonist/antagonist etc it is,if it affects the sympathetic or parasympathetic nervous system, or what area it stimulates you can get a idea of the side effects. Also if you know hows it metabolised that can help too! Im sorry there isnt an easier way to learn drugs and side effects! Im still struggling at it!

are u referring to drug facts that you take, or just wanting to remember therapeutic/toxic levels as in nursing? I myself take anti-seizure meds that have a lot of side effects. But I also have the love of my husband that watches over my doses. He can spot a seizure as apposed to a side-effect.
