First of all, the standard recommended technique of asking someone if they are a cop doesn't work. Why? Because cops are allowed to do just about anything in the furtherance of an investigation.
I once ran across a case where the cop had injected heroin in front of a group of people and got so stoned that he literally dropped his gun in the middle of the bust. When it got to court, the court ruled that his actions were entirely legal -- and the fact that he was a heroin addict himself didn't even affect his credibility. Just FYI, this same cop went on to head up a few Federal task forces on the subject.
One way to tell is if the person has cavities. Many police departments require their officers to have good dental condition before they are hired. However, that doesn't mean that the person is not a snitch, so that wouldn't be a good method of determining risk, either.
If someone keeps pestering you to get drugs for them, that is probably a pretty good sign. Most real drug users will give up the first time or two you tell them that it won't happen. Cops will be more persistent.
but the bottom line is that there is no good way to tell.

It is an urban myth that an undercover police officer has to answer honestly whether they are an officer or not. I am not sure if this is true. Go ahead and ask them if you wonder.
If there is someone who is always hanging around, not reallly using the drugs, and wants to know who your supplier is or where you are buying the drugs that you are selling, they could be undercover cops.

U never sell to anybody you know! Plus to prevent this you get u a team together and have soldiers on the ground doing it for you! If you are a veteran at drug dealing you can tell an undercover!

there is a old way to tell a undercover from a civilian.
1. the way they move. they attend to walk like they have a strange force holding them
2. the way the look. a cop is a cop, so they arnt those hollywood rough lookin ones, they have to look presentable, so watch for clean shavin and a clean cut.
3. the ask questions about personal things.
4. they attendnot to sit very long.
5. watch thier eyes. they will scan your home or room for anything they can pin on you.
those are some sipmle steps on finding out.

You can't. That's the catch. A good undercover officer looks exactly like a user.
Moral of the story: Get a paper route instead.

No gaurinteed way but some good ways to make things safer is to start small, Do the drugs with the person a few times with really small amounts, and make sure the person asked you, something called entrapment. If you do get caught it would be really hard for the cops to make the charges stick.
PS selling Drugs is really really dumb, could screw your life up royaly.

Pretty unlikely that you would know. These guys and gals train for quite awhile to be good at their jobs. You may get suspicious, especially if it's a rookie playing the part (they have to learn too). But a veteran cop..........no way. Take your chances, play the game and be prepared to get caught.

Everything Dr. L said + know the person who brought them to you. Make that person stay ! Watch that person they are not trained to lie! The cop may not give them self away but your " buddy" will. Ask about family, kids, jobs. It also helps if you are psychic. TRUST your gut and have plan "B" !

you can't...undercover cops are allowed to lie about being a cop...otherwise a lot less "stings" would go down...or at least i'd think a lot less stings would go down if you could just ask and they'd have to tell the truth
