I've heard that upwards of 3/4 Americans are Christians. I received a good amount of Christian indoctrination, as a tot, but I didn't swallow it hook, line, and sinker. I think it satisfies and inate weakness in Man.

For the same reason there are so many zealous Muslims in other countries.

Actually, a lot of Americans profess to be Christians, but are a Christian in name only.

I think Islam (among other religions) is used as a governmental control mechanism in some countries. Christianity is used in the same way in the U.S. to some degree, but I think the main problem is that Americans are happy to accept what they are told. Look how we absorb the media. Also, people look for a sense of meaning and belonging, and the Jesus club is an easy one to join when there are already so many members. It's harder to be a freethinker and think for yourself.

I think your judgment is based on the zealots of Christianity in America. All religions have deeper concepts than satisfying the innate weakness in man. As far as why so many, good question, I think it has a lot to do with the structure and founding of America and how somehow it is looked down upon but allowed by society to exist. How far would these people get in the UK? Resembles how we raise our kids will reflect their life to come. Get my drift?

1) Actually scientists that have witnessed miracles of God can't really explain how injuries are suddenly healing rapidly before their eyes.
2)There is proof found that the bible is true.
3)Many of the "contentious, too unclear, and apoligetical" arguments are probably from those who are only "christian" because their parents are, too.

Hey- why do so many people try to prove it doesn't exist? To me, only a few of us really argue that the fact that God is real. We mostly let people believe what they believe and not force them to belive in God. Sure, we invite them to church, but even if they decline the invitation, we don't resort to yelling and argument of why they should come. Anyhow, the only reason why we try to prove that He is real is because others try so hard to prove He isn't real. I'll pray for you. Also, you should check out somw books in the library based on how he is real. Then you might not be as much like this- hopefully.

America has a Judaeo-Christian tradition in its society. This

does not bug me. Attempts at enforcing religious

fundamentalism through changes in law and government do.

The Declaration of Independence guarantees

separation of church (mosque, synagogue, fellowship, temple,

etc,) and

state. At least it is supposed to, but you need a Democratic

President for that. Hopefully, with the House majority being

Democrat, things will change. I hope the American electorate

does not elect another Bush.

I think it's hysterical that Christians think they're the only ones on this planet.

They think they're 90% of the world's population, when in fact, Less than 1 in 6 people out of the world's population are some brand of Christianity.

It is their goal to destroy the US Constitution and replace America's secular democratic republic with a quasi-theocratic totalitarian government based on the brutally judgmental and humanity-hating teachings of their old testament-style god.

They are very disturbed and more dangerous to America than their cousins, the radical Islamic terrorists.

Come on, at least get the facts correct. It is the Declaration of Independence that you mean. However, that is irrelevant because; 1). The Declaration of Independence does not contain the separation clause you reference, because 2.) the declaration of Independence has absolutely nothing to do with the creation of America’s government.

The one and only document establishing the United States government is the US Constitution – the First Amendment of which contains the separation of Church and State clause.

Russia and the states of the former USSR are extremely religious. You should not ask smart-aleck questions unless you know what you are talking about.

I don't believe it's that high, as people call themselves Christians, without practicing like one. They just say that.
The definitian of a Christian is; "Christ Like" many people who claim, do not act, Christ like. Many are just cecular people, who call themselves that, as a matter of convenience.
The weakness of man is played out everyday in the papers, and on TV shows, that's where bait is for all the 'little fishies'
People who turn to Christ, get filled with the 'Holy Spirit' and then become 'Christ Like' if they continue to be filled with it.
Otherwise they are just like you.

I agree. Presumably, by indoctrination by the parents. I find it difficult that American youth is markedly stupider than the rest of the world.

I disagree. I think detractors show their weakness by attacking Christians, "like a boy whistling in the dark".
