When you finish grocery shopping, and load groceries in the car, do you return your shopping cart to the store, or to one of the designated areas on the parking lot for carts? I do because it helps to keep others cars from getting dents in them, but I am wondering how many others here do as well.

I return it to the designated cart area. If I'm closer to the entrance of the store, I return it there so that's one less cart for an employee to have to come get. If I'm far from both, I leave it in the corner of my space. If someone is dumb enuf to hit it when they park or don't get out to move it if the wind blew it, not my problem, lol.

I always return my cart to the designated area. If my son who is three is with me I make sure I park near a designated area so I don't have to go to far to return it. I think it is the proper thing to do, both for other patrons and the store personnel.

A large marjority of the time I always return the shopping trolley - even if I have to walk some way to do so. The exception is when there is a pressing matter at hand or if I am in an extreme rush to get going, in which case I will leave the trolley somewhere closeby where it is not in anyone's way and will not damage a vehicle.

Funny you ask that.
You see, where I live you need a 2 euros coin (about 2 US) to take the cart out - and you get them back when you bring back the cart.

Result: everybody brings it back, there are no dents in cars, and much less work for the supermarket!!! also, less carts are stolen....

I always do with the exception of when I was on crutches after my knee surgery. Try pushing a cart while on crutches...it's not easy. I had to give the cart a shove and then hop to it and give it another shove to get through the store. (the store didn't have handicapped carts) It was a real pain.

Yes, if the grocery store owner has to replace damaged carts he will have to add the expense to his profit to come out ahead. Also I dont want one of those carts come smashing into my car.

Sometimes i return the carts to the designated spots, and if i'm tired or lazy i'll just leave it in between the parking spaces.
