Akita. But when we finally decide on a dog, it will probably be a Golden Retriever because it would be the best choice for a compromise between my favorite and my husbands favorite and it would better fit our lifestyle.

Couldn't resist that. Love dogs, very sweet, but can't stand to have something that dependent on me.

I am worth depending on, but not the fearless leader type, no what I mean!

I'd be afraid of where this fearless leader would lead him! We'd both wind up in trouble.

On the other hand I can see how a dog that is big enough to protect can be nice. Not sure what type that would be though.

Maybe a German Shepherd? I think I heard they are alittle to sweet though.

Well, I'll read the answers and maybe I will find out.

My kids pets> my daughter has a Jack Russel Terrier/Chihuahua and my son has a Black Lab/Chow (he's a big ole teddy bear).
