someone who makes me feel belong. who looks at me with tenderness and care. who opens up and tells me of his worries and fears, just as i would want to feel safe and comfortable around him enough to share with him mine. someone who wont bolt when i cry. who laughs at his own mistakes and picks himself up when he falls. someone who respect me and others, and respect and have pride in himself too. someone strong in mind and body. someone who is serious when its needed and can joke and be laid back too. who will go with me to the dancefloor even if he is no dancer, just because i feel like dancing. who will let me go with him fishing or camping or watch football or whatever his hobby is. who wont nag me just coz i like to go shopping, especially not if its from the money i saved up for myself. ha ha ha. and last but not least, someone who thinks im hot and shows it!!!

This is too general a question. It depends on each person and their individual circumstances. Couple compatibility is always a challenge, everyone has a history, sometimes it goes as far as multiple exes and children.
Usually, in my opinion it helps if there is a strong physical attraction, fundamental issues in common honesty, respect and the mutual agreement to grow together and evolve as a couple.
compromise, understanding and financial security plays a part as well, so if you are looking for a person that can pull their own weight you must be clear on this from the start, some ladies just want their husband to support them fully while they take care of the house and kids.

If there's too much melodrama, then there's not much romance or fun. also, a good guy would have to be caring, of course, and be able to at least try to understand and help me through life. He needs to be tolerant, trustworthy, spiritual, nice, optimistic, and be able to find the secrets to my happiness. And he needs to understand that love cannot be bought, but gained by showing his love, by doing all of the above.

I think .... 1st is the looks and followed by the character.
No need to be very good looking. As long as he is pleasant looking with an "average" character, it will be fine. There is no man is perfect. I always believe that god is fair, when you have this, you will not have that. Generally, having handsome look doesnt have a good character.
