my grandmother takes care of my sister and my grandma doesnt know english. she only speaks to my sister in spanish. my grandma has taken care of her since birth. My sister does not know almost any english she know abc's #'s and colors and some other words but she talks like she wasnt born in the u.s an that she just got her. we are the 4th generation in the u.s. i talk to her in english an all. what can i do so she can learn english faster and efficiently. HELP she's on my nerves....

Children have a huge learning capacity at this age. I would not worry. If she can understand you and anyone else speaking english she will be fine. Just continue to speak to her in english and encourage her to answer you in english also. She will be very lucky to be fluent in 2 languages. She also probably knows more than what she lets on.. 4 yr olds are good at that.

Read with her.. Teach her as if you would when she was 2 or 3. But don't show any sign of impatience, because this is going to discourage her.. Just rememeber she's going to be a luck girl for having her grandmother teach her spanish and her sister teach her english...

Just keep talking to her in english, at this age she has the abbility to learn different languages a lot easier that when she is older so just keep talking to her in English!

Just keep trying to talk to her in english....if anything she might have to go to an ESL class in school.
