My hubby and daughter started puking their guts out a couple hours ago and won't go to the doc. What can I give them (out of pepto) that I possibly have here at home cuz there is no access to a store right now.
THANKS SO MUCH I AM DESPERATE HERE!
My daughter is 12, so she is old enough to take adult meds.

Remember....I don't have ANY Pepto or the normal stuff they say helps...like M.O.M. or that stuff.

Well, vomiting is really the body's way to get a toxin out and fast! It is typically the traditional recommendation that you do something to stop up the vomit, but think about it... does that make sense?

I agree with the person who suggested taking small sips of water and chips of ice. Forget all the pills and cures, etc. except perhaps something natural like pure peppermint essential oil-- one drop in a glass of water with 4-10 drops of Stevia as a sweetener. Forget all the stuff with sugar in it... sugar (as in the all the recommended soda) makes an acid environment and although it might seem like you are 'better' you are really just deferring the illness to something more serious in the future... such as a kidney stone (oh yay) or diabetes (hurray) or some sort of acid disorder (like acid reflux, for example). Trust your body to know how to heal itself without all these over-the-counter remedies and pharmaceuticals.

Something carbonated. Coke if you have it since cola syrup is used to help nausea. If no coke, try sprite or ginger ale. Tums or rolaids will not help much, but they can't really hurt either. Give it a shot. Do you have Alka Seltzer? I would call the pediatricians office to see if they want to see her. (Or take her to the ER) you cant force your husband to go to the doctor, but you are her mother. Load her in the car with a plastic bag to catch the puke and get rolling to the doctor if they want you to bring her in. Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly and try not to catch it!

Don't give them anything by mouth except maybe sips of water or preferably nothing. You can give them ice chips but tell them not to swallow. If they have a temperature you may need to take them to the ER. If they don't it could just be food poisoning, and there really isn't anything you can do for that. The main thing is to make sure they don't become dehydrated. Watch their tongues and the inside of their mouths. If the mouth looks really dry or if the tongue turns black you need to take them to the ER for medical treatment. However the sooner you can get them to the ER the better. There are tests that need to be run to determine if the problem is viral, bacterial or other.
Hope this helps.

Any Gravol. No, I do not believe Tums or Rolaids will help if such is either the flu or food poisoning. If no Gravol, try tea ( green tea preferential) and have them try to drink light fluids of water or juice.

Heartburn is common during pregnancy because of hormones that slow digestion so your body will absorb more nutrients to support your needs and the growth of your baby. Using too many antacids can interfere with your digestion. A safe alternative is Papaya Enzymes. They come in chewable tablets made with 100% natural ingredients. It can also help to not drink fluids one-half hour before or after meals, and avoid eating too spicy or fatty foods.

tums and rolaids both work to stop vomitting and nausea.

Get a Coke and shake it until all the fizz is gone. Add a pinch of salt to make sure it is really flat. Have them take little sips at a time. This really works, my daughter's doctor always suggests it for her when she feels nausous.

sip on some sprite or 7up. also if you really cant find anything try deep breathing.take a deep breath and hold it for a second then let it out slowly.just keep repeating it for a few minutes, but it doesnt always work. that works for me when i get like like that, which used to happen often in school.

See if the stomach acids will neutralize with some saltine crackers. When my baby gets a tummy ache, I'll give him peppermint water, and I myself drink Ginger Ale.

Anything with peppermint will help, if they can keep it down. Mylanta? ENO's is good for settling the stomach when it is empty. Or just water, or leave them alone.
