Please. please please do not give your cat any aspirin or other salicylates and especially do not give Tylenol.l Acetominophen in cats (even at extremely low doses) causes methemoglobinemia. Essentially, your cat's blood will be unable to carry oxygen to his tissues. This is a very serious toxicity and can cause death. If you have given any sort of human analgesic(pain med), take him to the vet immediately.
Is this a condition that has been diagnosed by your vet? If so, you can most likely call them and have them prescribe something safe. If it is not diagnosed, and your cat is straining and vocalizing at the litter box, you need to take him to an emergency vet immediately. He may be "blocked," i.e. have an urethral obstruction. This is a serious condition that can cause death within hours due to the build up of potassium within the bloodstream, which causes the heart to stop beating.
If this is not the case, just call your vet and ask for their recommendation.

You must NOT give the cat any human medication for this virus. You must leave that to the discretion of a veterinarian. Cats and people with colds (viral infections) are not in pain. It is uncomfortable for sure. If the cat is still eating the virus will resolve itself as it does in people and there is no treatment even a vet will give for that infection. Sometimes cats are given anitbiotics to stave off a possible bacterial infection in the lungs which could cause pneumonia. That too must be prescribed by a vet.

If the cat is having difficulty breathing it is an emergency and you must take him to the vet right away. Sometimes a cold prevents a cat from smelling his food and he may not eat. If that becomes a problem then you should also seek a vet consultation.

What is the cause of her UTI? Is this a simple cystitis caused by becteria or is this due to small stones or sand in the bladder called struvite or oxalate?. Both cases do not need any pain killer. What you need is an antibiotic for cystitis or a bladder flushing to get rid of those struvites. Pain killers are only temporary or palliative as it last for only about 6 to 8 hours , so you have to give this often but pain killers used by humans are not good for cats as it is toxic like the Aspirin (salicylates) ir Acetaminophen. You should bring your cat to a vet hospital otherwise the condition may worsen and may end up with kidney being affected. Painkillers are of no use here. But if you really want usually we use Butorphanol as it is the safest.

If it has a UTI,then it needs antibiotics and antispasmodics to help it's bladder relax.Tylenol is deadly poison to cats.DO NOT give it to your cat.It destroys the liver and kidneys,as the cat cannot metabolize it.Also if your cat's bladder gets blocked,it will die without treatment. You need to take it to the vet right away.

My vet told us to give our cat a crushed half BABY Tylenol, not adult. It would help ease pain but it also depends on your cats age and weight. Call a vet hospital (open 24 hr.s) and they can tell you more specifically according to your cats size. Good luck!
