They are awesome!!! I think they can only be bought at Hawaii... Good thing i lived there!!

When I lived in Seattle, Washington I pretty much lived off of them. But yes, Hawaii was the first place I ever had chocolate covered ones and I agree they are delicious.

Since this was two weeks ago there's really nothing you can do at this point. However, you (or whoever left the box of chocolate covered macadamias out) really need to be more careful. Don't leave food lying around...if I have unfinished chocolate, I make sure to leave it in a place that my dog can't reach. Also, as far as your parents not being willing to take her to vet until she got really sick - at that point it might be too late for your dog. A lot of times the vet will want to get the dog in to induce vomiting to limit ingestion. Once the signs of toxicity are set, it's a lot harder to treat...prevention is always easier than treatment. Plus, it's a lot more expensive for all the treatment than it is for preventative measures. Dogs have different limits with how much they can take before showing symptoms. It's not like one drop of chocolate or one macadamia is going to kill a dog. The larger the dog, the more they can eat without getting too sick. However, even with size there are differences, just like with people - we're all different. For example, some people can take a medication and get no side effects whereas another person of a similar size can take the same medication and get side effects. Your dog is just lucky I guess...

I love chocolate covered macadamias! I too discovered them in Hawaii but you actually can buy Mauna Loa (a Hawaiian brand) here in the states at the supermarket and they taste just as good.

Definately good stuff... The secret I found when visiting Hawaii is to buy that stuff at Costco instead of going to the tourist traps. :-)
Get a good price and give it as gifts.

me!! they can also be brought in singapore. the choclate is always so tasty that i can finish the entire big box at one go!!
