If he has been vomiting all day, you should take him to an emergency vet clinic. There are a few things that can happen with linear forgein bodies: one, they can cause a complete blockage of intestines. Two, they may wrap around the intestines and necrotize (kill) the tissue. Or, it may be passed. Foreign bodies that are going to be passed are not often accompianied by intractable vomiting. Surgery will most likely be necessary to remove the string. When you take him to the clinic, they will probably preform x-rays and an ER ultrasound to determine when the string is. It is important that you do not wait to treat this. If the string causes the intestines to perforate (burst open), you cat will end up with a septic abdomen, which is extremely painful and life-threatening.

I don't know how serious it is, but it could be a problem. I'm certainly not a vet or an expert, but I had a similar situation with my dog. She ate string once and didn't have any problems until it was time to go to the bathroom. I actually had to pull the string that wouldn't come out, out of her butt. It was not very pleasant. I hope you don't have to deal with that, but you should check your cat during the night just to make sure no string is hanging out!

I think the string he ate is obstructing his intestines that is why she's throwing up. Probably she needs to be operated to remove the string. About the prices of vet, it varies. There are vets who are expensive and there are cheaper vets. Probably you'll have to prepare $400 or $500 for that. This is a reasonable price.

They will likely want to do an ultrasound or x-ray to be sure the string isn't wound around anything internally. If it is, it will require surgery to remove. If it's not, they can give them something to make it pass and keep them to ensure it passes safely. Either way, this can get pricey but it's worth saving your cat's life. Talk to your vet about a payment plan prior to services being rendered. Good luck to you and your poor kitty.

If he's vomiting repeatedly go straight to the emergency room. There are 24 hr clinics available. They might have to preform surgery, but if you catch it now I'm sure you will have a better chance. String can choke him or cause blockage that could be possibly very serious.

the vet might tell you to keep an eye on the cat when it poops and make sure that it came out (all the way out ) if it started to come out and didnt come all the way you may have to pull it out the rest of the way .. gross i know but it wont come out any other way besides surgry and that is alot of money
