I ask this of all the people here who say they are dating or married to an illegal immigrant. I had a friend back in college who was dating an illegal from El Salvador. When he was finally caught, my friend decided that she loved him enough to drop out of college and move to El Salvador with him. I lost touch with her after that, so I assume she is either still there, or they found a way to get him to the US legally.

So I ask all of you dating or married to an illegal immigrant... do you love your significant other enough to go back to their country with them if they were ever caught and deported?

That would depend on how much money he had...I mean seriously, he would have to have enough to support me cause I sure as heck don't know there language.

i am answering because sounds interesting
depends where the illegal is from there are different laws for every one
if the person is from Mexico the one that is deported should stay for 5 to 11 years in Mexico before she/he qualifies for legal status(assuming partner is citizen).

If the person is from any part of Europe (the illegal) there are some restrictions as well.
or Asian etc.
but if it were my case i wont go i will find a way (legally) to fix the persons' status

Don't have a date with one and then the problem is solved. Honestly, there really is no such thing as "love at first site". It is LUST at first site if anything. Marriage is a lot more than a lustful thing. It is a lifelong commitment, I have a 25th anniversary coming this next June, 2007. My hubby is now disabled and I hope we still have many more years together.

Oh, I guess I forgot to say that he wasn't really legal. But he was here, working, paying taxes, had an SSI number and had been here for many years before we met.

Though I'm not dating or married to an illegal immigrant, I would if I really loved him.

yes. If the man I really loved was deported, I would find a way to sponsor him to come to the U.S. legally! In the mean time I would go visit him.

If it was more than a fling and I really loved the person, then yes, without a doubt. (Thankfully I work for a global company and could easily transfer around the world, so at least one of us would have a decent job while we established our new home.)

I would have to do some really soul searching before I decided. there are so many things to consider. You would know no-one except him, then there is the language, I dont speak spanish, but I could learn if I had to. But like i said I just dont know what I would do.

First Mistake: To fall in love and marry an illegal immigrant.
Second Mistake: To let her go to his/her home country alone.
Third Mistake: To go with her there and NOT try to bring her back.
