Not really. Odd are a marriage will only amplify the relationship you already have. So if your relationship is a good one, then that is good news. If it is not good, however, getting married will not make it better and will likely make it worse. That's because marriage requires you to share things and make all kinds of mutual decisions that affect you both (i.e. do you combine checking accounts or not, who's family do you spend Xmas with?)

I have been with my fiancee now for 8 years exactly. We are going to get married in February. Our relationship only gets stronger the longer we are together. I dont think we could imagine being without one another. We are almost like an extension of one another. We couldn't be happier to be getting married to one another. Nothing will really change only the fact that we will have rings and a piece of paper. Many people say things change after you get married, but if you've been with someone for 8 years and feel the way I do.... its all a myth and nothing will change. Good luck and best wishes.

Yes, they change for the better especially if you have children together. Eight years is long enough to determine if you should stop playing house now and make a real commitment and go forward with a normal mainstream life. If you have no children with this man now, and you have doubts about a commitment to him or him to you, then it's time to "move on" to someone else who is willing to commit. Is it time to stop waisting each other's time?

There is the old joke about the new wife who thought she could change her husband for the better, but she couldn't. And the same husband hoped his new wife would never change, but she did. The fact is everyone changes as they grow, married or not. If you think your partner will treat you better if you marry, think again.

Yes, things will change. Marriage is a big commitment with tons of responsibility. No matter how long you have been with your boyfriend or fiance things will change.
However, if you two really love eachother and are committment, things will work out and your marriage will be a wonderful experience.

If you have been with someone for eight years and you still have a great relationship, marriage should change nothing. Why did you wait eight years though?

It doesn't have to be the marriage itself but maybe arrival of a baby.Relationship gets really tested at that point. It's not you and your loved one anymore, there comes someone else taking all your attention,time,energy...Some relations get stronger some don't.

Yes the dynamics of your relationship will change but it part of a maturing and natural evolution of your relationship, which leads to being much closer and deeper.

Only if you let it, a lot of people tend to let that document get in the way of their happiness.
