he says they are too loud, but I really would like to have one. If you have one, tell me about it.

well to convince my parents to let me get my puppy I did a lot of research on the breed I wanted and a great breeder. Tell him all of the great details about the breed and be prepared to counter his arguments. He says their loud, well tell him not all are and with some training you can teach them not to bark. All dogs bark sometimes. I hope it works for you, it did for me...and now my parents would never even think of giving him away...they love him soo much.

Good Luck!

LOL. When my stepdad met my mom they were talking about dogs - he had two and she had two. His were great big black labs, and when she said that she had two of her own dogs, he said, "Please - don't tell me you have pomeranians. I can't date you if you have pomeranians."

She laughed and said, no, that she had big dogs too... But to this day he says that the woman he dated before he met and married Mom had pomeranians, and that they were the most obnoxious dogs he's ever known.

The other two pomeranians I knew belonged to a woman named Alfie. And her two dogs tended to get matty hair, they were mouth breathers because they had trouble with facial form (pom sometimes have some breathing problems), and because they were mouth breathers they drooled alot and they had really stinky breath. Not just doggy breath. I mean, really stinky sour dog breath.

But by all means, your husband should be glad to have a yappy, drooly, matted, mouth-breathing dog as a pet. Ooh, especially one that you'll probably pay an arm and a leg for.

Go to the humane society. Find a dog that really needs a home. Find a dog that can't be considered snack food for other dogs... And mostly, find one that you and your husband can enjoy together. Otherwise, he'll resent it, and you'll resent him for not liking your dog. It's a slippery slope.

I don't have a pom or know much about them. However, when I wanted a female dog (Akita x), I called my hubby and asked him. He said no, my daughter cried, so, I turned the truck around and got her anyway....lol! He didn't have too much to say about that now did he? She was one of the best dogs I ever had. I also had a VERY loud dog....he was a mastiff x I believe. But, we loved him anyway, and we had him for about 12 years......he just passed away in October.

I think it all depends on how you train your dog. I have a pom. She is very quiet. She never cries nor barks. When I say "No", she will stop. Even if i put her favourite food in front of her, if i ask her to wait, she won't start eating until I say "OK". I love my dog very much, but i never spoil her.

not to sound like a jack@ss but your husband would like a bigger dog i bet, i wouldn't want a toy dog either, of course if you are single and need a companion in your apartment, then it should be understandable, but you are married, compromise. you wan small he might want big, i suggest a jack russell terrier, or a beagle.
