I'm really wondering...Asked a question a while ago. Just because I believe in God doesn't mean I don't believe in getting medical treatment. I mentioned that my mother has had a mental illness for 20 years. It took one person to misinterpret my detail, others followed and jumped on the bandwagon. I believe in God, and am not ignorant. God gave medicine for healing. My mother has tried just abot every medication for manic depessive there is. It doesn't make me a bad person because I have courage to believe God for healing. I won't let anyone take my testimony, or my courage.

Who would suffer for 20 years without medication? If you don't have all the facts it's not wise to make up your own.

Until we have the faith to overcome our sickness, its OK to seek medical treatment. God will deliver us when we are ready.
All medicine is the arm of the flesh anyway. God doesn't need medicines to heal. He has the Power to heal us all.
Men don't have the answers, that's the reason they want us on drugs in the first place.
Notice, everytime you turn on the TV, theres a NEW DRUG for some problem somebody has. We are a very sick society and world. We believe far more in what man can do for us, and Believe NOTHING in what the POWER of the LORD JESUS CHRIST can do for us all. Again, hold very firm in your belief. You are right on about the attacks from the devil and spiritual wickedness in high places. It affects everything in our world daily.

I think that only some people assume that because they think blind faith is stupid and that science can do and prove anything. Jehovah's Witnesses probably help confuse the issue since they don't believe in some medical procedures. Scientology believes that psychology is not even medicine and you can heal your own mind. So there are a lot of different beliefs that get jumbled up into one. You just be strong in your faith. I wish you and your mother all the best. I will pray for you and her also.

God Bless. Merry Christmas.

Never heard that mentality as a majority opinion.

I am religious and live in a fairly religious town; We have great hospitals and Doctors- Pretty good health care.

Folks think that good health care and prayer together are an unbeatable combo here; but one without the other is incomplete.

I think there are lots of folks here doing answers falling victim to stereotypes and not having well rounded experiences or research. Too much cpu and not enough face time.

Many mental problems respond to medication and talking therapy together- have you tried that?

This is true and a sad part of human nature. It is human nature to sin and join others in that. The bandwagon is a terrible thing and many fall into some rather large wagons. I know full well of the medicines that can help, but ask yourself if they are helping her or poisoning her. Some medicines, though effective, can have some not so great side-effects. There are supplements that can help with it and give your mother relief. Health food stores have tons of available stuff. It doesn't have to be all about the meds. Like more fish in her diet will help and omega oils with dha are great in assisting with those areas of health. There is hope. She doesn't suffer for no reason. It is like Job's suffering. It wasn't because of any sin, but something much deeper like his faith and the evil one attacking. Continue to run strong in your faith. My prayers will be with you.

As a Christian and a woman who has experienced several healings by the Lord's hand through faith, and many healings through conventional medicine, and several healings through natural and herbal treatments, I really didn't realize I was supposed to choose one or the other. They all have the same source. The God who heals is the same God who created the plants used to extract and synthesize medications and who gave man the capacity to learn about human anatomy and physiology. Sorry you got pushed around for opting for meds.

I still believe in medicine, as well as prayer.
God chose to heal me through the use of modern medical treatment. But, through it all I still prayed for a miracle...and the doctor that found the treatment is a devout christian.

I agree with you. I believe in God, but I also believe in life-saving medications, pain-killing medications, depression quenching medications, infection treatments, and surgical procedures (under anesthesia) that will remove tumors, bind bones back together, take out infected organs, repair disfigurement, etc.

If God allowed us to evolve this far medically, I consider it a blessing that we should offer thanks for, and use!

Christ himself healed many people of many ailments. We can't do it by the same power, but we can do it with what we DO have, so why shouldn't we?

I think believing in God and not believing in medical treatment is the belief of The Christian Science Church only

It's pretty easy to be misunderstood on here. Someone mistook you for a "far-out fanatic" or something like that.

Anyhow... No worries... You'll live past it, I hope.

But look... perhaps we can learn something from this at the same time.

If you're being misunderstood because you carry around the name Christian, (regardless of your inner beliefs,) it might be time to shed some of the misleading baggage that goes with the territory. Perhaps it's time to dream up a modern philosophy that isn't so dogmatic?

This is just food for thought... just thinking out loud for what it's worth, so take it or leave it. No harm intended.

Very true, there are some people however that believe that faith will heal them and i have seen some healings myself so who is to say what God may do, surely none of us are qualified to answer that question.
