Not necessarily, but it may be sinful to expose yourself to some of the material on the TV. If you are watching programs that portray sinful behavior as good and acceptable, you could be numbing yourself to the warnings that may keep you away from sin.

Watching TV is okay if it is beneficial and uplifting. But if you are setting aside beneficial and uplifting activities to watch some of the crap on TV today, then I'd say it's the sin of wasted time, rotting away, and neglecting good works and better education.

no watching tv is not a sin. but it can make you numb to some things. just watching murder after murder on tv news is making people numb to murder. merry christmas.

I watch TBN on TV and it has great leaders like TD Jakes and Joel Osteen. That's not a sin.
It depends on the content on the show. Just as what you read can either bring you closer or push you further from God.

if you have a brain you can still use it tv or not, you dont have to let tv wash over you and stick, you can use a mind and shrug off what you know to be stupid. and if you are a parent its your job to watch with the kids and tell them you do know this is wrong dont you? give them a moral compass and hope they know which way the needle is supposed to point.

well according to islam it is. you might not understand but ill try to explain it the best i can. the reason why muslim women cover and men and women are to lower their gaze is so they dont look at the opposite sex. men shouldnt look at women and women shouldnt look at men. so when u watch tv guess what ur doing? ur looking at men/women. they reason why its not allowed is cuz it causes people to start liking them and stuff. i hope u understand. take care. email me for more questions.
