Condoms in combination with some form of hormonal contraceptive. Condoms are 97% effective. Hormonal contraceptives are about 99% effective. Using both vastly decreases the chance of unwanted pregnancy and condoms have the bonus of protecting against the spread of sexually transmitted infections.

Hormonal contraceptives like the Nuva Ring, the patch (Ortho Evra) or even the the Depo Provera shot might be better than the pill for teenage girls because it requires less remembering. The pill needs to be taken at the exact same time every day, but the others only need to be thought about every three to four weeks, once a week or every three months respectively. The side effects of the Depo shot might make it undesirable to some people though (bone loss, weight gain), but the other two have the same side effects as 'the pill' (no bone loss, no proof of weight gain). Also, the Nuva Ring (and the pill) can be used for menstrual suppression which may appeal to some teenage girls as having a period is annoying! Hormonal contraceptives have other benefits as well like reduce risks of uterine and ovarian cancer and have other benefits like clearer skin and lighter periods. One more thing, typically a young women needs a prescription for this medication making it more likely that she will get regular PAPs and possibly STI testing as her doctor will encourage it.

Well only a few people were honest with you....b/c you asked for the BEST method!!!! It is celibacy/abstinence. You can't ask for only what you want to hear. Condoms may help many but you asked for the best method not for an easy way out! Abstinence is the ONLY 100% way to protecet yourself from anything! Condoms are not 100%..it even says so on the box! And think about all the people who get pregnant and are using some form of contraceptive???

Chance: 85% have unintended pregnancies
Withdrawl: 19%
condoms(male/female): 14%/21% or 3%/5% with perfect use
pill: 0.1% (with estrogen and progestin)
shot: 0.3%
These are just a few. withdrawl and chance are two of the worst forms of birth control. Condoms also protect against HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. I would suggest talking to someone who actually prescribes birth controls. Most people on here have no idea what they are talking about and you probably can't site this as a source of information.
P.S. a hysterectomy cannot be reversed. It is taking the uterus completely out of the female body. Duh.

i just had to do this for my parenting class at school. the best method of contraception for teenages besides abstinence to use is condoms. It is the ONLY contraceptive that protects against pregnancy AND std's and sti's. i can guarentee you this is the correct answer because i got perfect on my parenting project that was the exact same question.

Definitely just knowing that something is out there to help prevent becoming pregnant is a start.
Condoms of course, and birth control I think are the two biggest.
But I think getting the word out there about it is great, because sex is going to eventually happen and at least they know they have things out there to be healthy and hopefully not get pregnant

Teenagers should not be having sex. Abstinence is best. That would be the health advice for them. They could enjoy life without
having the burden of deciding about contraception.Too much about sex has been bombarded on them by society.

I guess the best would be for the girl to see a doctor and get a proper prescription for birth control pills. The cheapest way would be for every boy to use a condom, and for every girl to make sure the boy uses a condom.

birth control pills/patch.. other form. They are the most effective method. Of course, they should be using a condom every time ANYWAYS. STD's! HELLO! Condoms every time, AND birth control pills/patch/shot/inplant....

Obviously abstinence but since that's not what your looking for then I would have to say condoms and foam spermicide used together.

Condoms for men, and the women should take birth control as soon as they become sexually active. The depo shot is nice for those who forget to take pills on time.
