Ok, so I am planning on getting this gorgeous tat which will extend from right below my knee to my ankle on my outer calf. It has many many different colors and is filled with butterflies and fairies. I know It will be expensive, but I was wondering if anyone could give me a broad idea of how much it will cost and how long a very colorful and large tattoo typically takes so I'm not completely shocked when I walk in to the tattoo shop.

Ok, and also I am not worried about how it will look to others, so that is not an issue. And this is not my first tat, I have two others, but they are not this big. This will be my first big one.

Tats that are large with lots of color and detail tend to run on the real high side. I'm betting close to $500, maybe more. Depends on the parlor you go to and what they charge. Shop around to find the best deal or the best artist. Personally, if I was going to get one that big I'd go for quality over price.

Everyone always wants to know how much they cost. It depends on the detail, size and location. Most places charge 100$ per hour. The only way to know for sure is to go to a shop, show them the art, tell them how big you want it and where. I think you'll find that 300-400 is a very low estimate for what you are talking about. Whatever you do, don't decide on it based upon price. You will have to go in multiple times, and most people cannnot sit for more than 2 hours the first time they get tattooed. Make your decision based on the artist's portfolio, and if they don't have a portfolio, turn around!

All judgements aside, depending on the width and the detail, I would guess that it will probably run you around $400-$500. Do your research on the artist and make sure their tats have longevity- they all look good as soon as they are done so don't go by their photo albums. Cheap tattoos aren't good and good tattoos aren't cheap. Words to live by. Good luck- hope it brings you many years of happiness!

Depends on the shop's prices. The one I go to charges $200 per session (3-4 hr sessions), so I would guess $400-500 for yours if not more.

totally depends on the shop and the quality of work you want done
i have 4 tats each of them very detailed

and none of them are bigger than a 4 inch square and each of them was well worth the $400 each
somebody said $400 total for that, for 400 i wouldn't let them tattoo my dog, a good shop 800, a great shop could run over 2000

measure it out in inches and call the artist. They all have different prices and tend to like it more when you have a size they can figure out how big it is and how much detail=how many hours & then can give you a price. Make sure that you measure the legnth and width!

it all depends on who you go to and how much they charge. it'll most likely be a by hour tattoo and it won't be something that will be completed in one session. my husband just got a tattoo finished from his knee to his ankle but it isn't a calf sleeve, it's only on one side of his leg and it took 8 hours to do. and his tattoo isn't super detailed, but he does have kinda big legs.

Probably around 400.00.. It depends of course on how long it takes them to do it. Many charge by the hour.. I have seen 175.00 an hour!!! Check around at different shops and artists.. Many price differently..
